| Also when I worked in Barnsley many years ago a few of the Barnsley lads used to watch Wakefield and some of them to get on about the great trinity side of the 1960s so we could get a bit of local interest if we did play there.

We've also been doing community work in Doncaster schools.

Obviously, I don't know the ins and outs and finer details of everything that's going on atm, but if we are well and truly done in Wakefield and our next best bet for next year is Dewsbury or Feath. I think to keep our SL licence and this team together long term those places currently don't offer that imo.
If it was any way financially viable and the BFC owners are up for it, Barnsley is probably our best hope of a SL future imo at least for the next few years. For those in charge, things like naming rights of the stadium, sponsorship and what deal we get on drinks & food on matchday etc, will be affected anywhere we go. Plus would we have to change our name if it was for the foreseeable future?
Trying to be slightly positive about it, maybe any lost fans that may not fancy the trip over, might be taken up by locals gradually, especially if we're playing good RL near the top of the League.
Ateotd though who knows. It's absolutely sickening as a fan and I know we all feel the same. We finally can see things starting to come together on & off the pitch and the Clubs being run in a sensible sustainable way for once & we've got this constantly in the background hanging over our heads. Generally, it's the other way around.

| When Barnsley was on the cards a few seasons back wasn't the cost far too high to make it viable?

| The issue though is not just a ground is it? Newmarket was agreed to take out Greenbelt land for Industrial use provided a stadium and other community facilities were built. Just day BV was developed what happens about the other facilities. A lot of money sloshing about here and no one in authority seems to have grip from what I have seen reported it's always someone else's issue!

| I believe the Barnsley option has been looked at before and ruled out due to costs. Oakwell ain't the crappy little stadium that it used to be when we last played there; it's now football Premier League standard and therefore not a viable option for us.

I know that and have commented on the whole sorry saga and lack of the bigger picture that is the facilities loads of times. I was just thinking about our immediate future ( since MC stated that 88m bloke isn't even getting back in touch with him to rent Belle Vue for next season) as in the next 3 years or so & retaining SL status, because by the looks of things we're not going to get anything built even if we win at Court, however long that may take.
So by the looks, Barnsley has now become too expensive and it'll be down to Dewsbury or Featherstone.

| Barnsley FC are currently in the process of being bought out by a US/Chinese consortium. I'm a Barnsley FC season ticket holder and up until now I've understood that the club don't want us there. However, the new owners may have different ideas. Living in South Wakefield Oakwell woud be better for me than Newmarket , but the walk back from the ground is a killer!!

Haven't been down the lane since the last game so I can't be sure but apparently the gold mine (the boot room) opposite the Cas ground is up for sale/lease. Maybe the current landlord believes it will happen.

...or dying the death of all pubs and even 15 busy afternoons a year is not enough to sustain it.

Who would have the final say, Barnsley FC or Barnsley council? as for walking back from the ground, I'm sure there are buses that run between the towns

| Why pay a commercial rent to Barnsley with all the additional costs such a ground would produce including the upkeep on the playing surface for example. I would suggest the club actually ask all supporters what their views are regarding any relocation because the few of you on here who think it is acceptable just isn’t enough to pay the bills.
The bottom line is we cannot make a permanent home away from Wakefield or we face oblivion and those running the club will have succeeded where others have failed over the recent period.

This isn't a democracy, we can have an opinion but unless we've put our money where our mouth is and bought shares we don't have a say. Also, as I've stated a few times, we don't have the all the details and it's probably not wise to share them all with us, so how can we make an educated decision?

I don't understand what you're saying here...can you clarify? It sounds like you're accusing the owners of wanting to fail...which I'm sure isn't true
