| Quote: wrencat1873 "Don't think that you will win any prediction competitions with that prophecy.
We are all expecting bottom 4 but, not tailed off last (with just 6 points in the regular season)
If we are competitive and making progress, most fans will be happy(ish)
I don't think anyone really thinks we will be in the top 8.'"
My comments were based on expecting a lot better with the signings you have made and I just didn't see the spark coming from anywhere in the team.
The least that should be done is to organise so that on the 5th tackle, Miller gives another option for a different play, instead of just expecting Finn to create something with a kick.
Unfortunately Finn can be one dimensional and you need some variation from somewhere. If not from Miller, then where?
On Sunday your forwards just didn't seem to be able to make yards or a half break to pass the ball to a supporting player and it becomes predictable, allowing the opposition to stifle you.
Without at least some set plays that may or may not come off, you will be doing a lot of defending (and not very well if Sunday was anything to go by)
I really don't want to see you in the bottom 4, especially not tailed off last but if you start off the seasons with a couple of drubbings, that's where you may finish up.
Lets hope that you find some enthusiasm and spark so that we have 2 competitive teams and good derby games.

off, all in a game where we got smashed.
Not brilliant, but enough and certainly not deserving of the stick that he was getting from some fans.'"
Also not beaten in the air once by Joel Monaghan.

That's a lot to take out of a warm-up game; what did you make of how we dealt with the all conquering Leeds side a couple of weeks ago?

I cant really comment because I didn't see it.
I do think however that warm up games / friendlies, are generally used to gauge the team's status with such a short time to the start of the season and to try out training ground moves, but there was only one team that looked anywhere near ready - and it wasn't Wakefield.
The title of this thread is 'no fire in the bellies' and if Sunday's performance is anything to go by, that is an accurate description.
As stated, let's hope for a lot better when it really matters.

The fact that you keep referring to Wakfeild as YOU rather than US, would suggest it's not a worry for you.
We all seem to be ok with it so I can't see the issue.

| If I was a coach, with a team of limited skills, the last thing I'd want is my team going all out in a friendly, showing all our planned moves to the opposition. And I think BS has this in mind.

| Yes and bare in mind the statement by BS in the express a few weeks back where he told Finn to put his kicking game on the back burner and experiment with his (BS) own ideas, hope this does not backfire as his is a pivotal role and is instrumental in getting the team into an attacking position.

I'm a Rugby League fan and was commenting on what I saw at Sunday's game.
I didn't start the thread, merely passing my opinion and agreeing with the title, which suggests that you ALL are not OK with it?
If however you don't welcome the views of others on here, then so be it.

I hope you're right but my gut feeling is that you might be a bit naïve in that thought.

And that's the worry, because Finn is very limited as a playmaker.

As a supposed Cas fan why should anything regarding Wakey be a worry for you?

Because I don't like to see West Yorkshire clubs doing badly.
You may not be interested in other clubs but don't assume we all have the same insular attitude.

Are you trying to provoke me into the same sarcastic comment, because it wont work.
My previous comments are genuine and not in any way meant to be over critical, but it appears there are some very sensitive souls on here.

You are very welcome to your opinion but I think the message back to you is that your opinion seems strong based on one friendly game.
As the last league game at Cas was a Wakefield win I could choose that game and say you'll finish below us. It would be based on just as sound logic.
I think the general consensus at Wakefield, since you care about us so much, is that we are improving under Smith but we still have limited and new players so it will still be a struggle but we are lightly optimistic for the season.
I hope you are back in a few weeks after the league game. It could easily be the same score as Cas are clearly on the up but I reckon we'll be ok
