Did you ever think that Widnes were probably fired up for that game, had the motivation to take it to us for 60mins and then tired?!! I think the worse team ever to grace super league was Gateshead, what happened to them?.....

We've only played four matches, got more points for than Widnes, four less than Cas & six less than London.

Yes, but a coach can only do so much. Two players can only do so much too if the rest of the team aren't firing. So what is your point?

A lack of field position killed us, our small pack has cost us. Hope Kirmonds injury isn't a bad one and Wilkes doesn't end up in front of the disaplinary otherwise next week could be nasty.

I think you should be worried that your attack was completely non-existant until about 10mins to go. The weather today meant it was never going to be a classic (swirling wind and sleat throughout) but Wakefield offered little threat. This is exactly the issue that Hull had for 3 seasons under Agar, decent defence, but coulden't score.

Your defence was very good however, and Hull struggled to break it down despite having loads of possession.

Not really, you got some better field position from a couple of penalties and some better kicks and generated some pressure of that.

The weather was awful though, which meant both sides were (understandably) doing a lot of one-man drives, roll on summer!

Great effort today. Played into a hail Mary of a wind and snow first half and spent the majority of it in our half. One lapse for their first try, but that aside we held our line brilliantly. Had to defend our line time and again in the second half and did so well. Conceded after Mellars slipped. Played to the conditions for most of the game and both sides adopted one out rugby. It was catch 22. On one hand throw it about in that and the ball would have gone to ground. Play it simple and up against a much bigger pack it was going to be hard work. I didn't see Hull playing it any different to how we did. Conditions wouldn't allow it.

 10 to go, 14-0 down and after all that tackling you would have be forgiven for thinking that was it. To still have the reserves to dig in and really have a go at the end was great to see and I'm proud of the lads today. 

Ok, we didn't win today, I don't care if we did beat Hull FC last season, or that we did beat Hull KR at home last season. If last seasons team had played today, Hull may well have scored 40. We couldn't defend for toffee last year, and now we can. We haven't been fit for 4 years, and now we are. There is a lot to look forward to in this team when the pitches dry out. I for one can't wait.
