Nigel Wright. Thinks he was at Penrith before he came back to England. Might have already worked with this guy.

| Georgallis says in that article that he's determined to stay in Aus.
There must be others like him though who could use a time limited stint in ESL to beef up their credentials for a return to the NRL?
If we go shopping in the Kear, Noble or Powell aisle, I fear we'll be sending out a strong message to the RL world that even with a chance for greatness, we went for the backward looking, regressive option; "typical Wakey" they'll sneer, laughing at our small-town attitude and lack of ambition - it's imperative we don't let that happen!

| The murmurings I've heard is that the players have lost respect for JK. Think an advisory role would suit him perfectly, we need a new coach with dynamic ideas. JK would be good to have upstairs taretting potential signings and being a bit of a father figure if needed for the players. I was livid with him stating his desire to coach Cas but we were all very tense at the time, he was trying to look out for his own future, don't agree with him going public but whats been done has been done. After 6 years here he's bound to have feelings for this club so he could still be used as an asset for us.

Noble turned Wigan around and McGuire polished them off. He then turned Cru from wooden spooners to top eight contenders. Feath play some great rugby under Powell and I think he is ready for a step up to the super league, I also believe the time spent in the Championship by Harrison has fared him well too and he would also be another to consider. I'd have Wright back in a shot as assistant, he'd be great for the young talent such as Davey Wildie and Moore.
Georgallis would be a good call but it looks like hes determined to stay in oz.
Its all about opinions, don't think any one of us is wrong, we just differ

Agreed but with a shopping list of
1. Ground developments- Keep the licensing thing in order
2. Strengthen the 1st team with a view to not panic buying players released from other clubs
3. A new coach - Worth a thread on its own as to whom and what we need to bring in to move the club forward.
4. JK in an advisory role - that he might not even want

| For me, if JK, Nobby or Powell were the real deal, they'd have top 5 SL clubs beating a path to their door; they haven't and there's good reasons for that.
Oz is, unfortunately, where it's at right now in terms of modern coaching methods, conditioning and sports science. There is a compromise however, that doesn't necessarily fall into the 'oz is best' mentality and I've suggested it many times before: Bring in an NRL assistant coach on a time limited, 3 year contract and allow him to totally clear out the back room, with free reign to instill a brand new culture around the playing side of the club. The only stipulation on that free reign however is that he works with and mentors a young British assistant coach and puts a proper succession plan in place for him to take over. It could even be part of his role to use his contacts at Aus clubs to arrange a work placement at an NRL club, to accelerate the learning curve.
We could be progressive on this!

Have to agree, Noble would be OK if we wanted to survive or just close the gap. However for me NOW is our big chance to actually make a leap and possibly challenge for real.
This is what unfashionable Bradford did at the start of SL when they went for a relatively unknown but progressive and ambitious coach in Brian Smith. We need to find the new Smith, it won't be easy but if we want to make real strides we will have to do it.
Sadly and I mean sadly there just are not IMHO the English coaches who poccess that mentality. All that young coaches like Powell or Harris seem to do is ape (without the attention to detail) the Aussies they learnt under, rather than implement their own ideas. Maybe it's fear or a lack of belief from other players, fans and Chairman in anything British. They also don't seem to have the natural charisma of Aussie coaches which didn't used to be the case.
Whatever we can't afford to mess around and Aussies offer more chance IMO of an instant solution which we need.
Now is the best chance we will ever get to go from a reactive club to a proactive one which basically means losing mentality to winning mentality.

| For me its not just about player identification, its about being able to coach them to play an exciting brand of RL that is also successful and bring the clubs youth players through in to the first team.
JK should not continue as head coach because I don't think he has any of these attributes and a Director of Rugby role would IMO just cause problems as Kear would be selecting the kind of players to sign for how he wants to play the game (ie Senior etc..) rather than the type of player which would complement the new coaches methods.
I have said it before and I stand by it, the squad we have this season is capable of playing better RL then it has done and IMO the problems lie in coaching and conditioning.
Andrew Glover and James Elston have done a tremondous job on the application, don't waste that progress by sticking with the current coaching team. A clean sweep and fresh start is required.
It needs to be done relatively quickly so we can sort out who we want to keep and who we want to go after player wise.

Which is fair enough, however, the club should put feelers out too to see who is interested so they can make a sound judgement.

| To be fair I would not be dissapointed if JK is given the chance with some money when he had a fairly decent amount we were 5th in super league our highest ever finish and we were in the Semi final of the cup . The season where it all fell apart we were in the top 3 then Mr Tronc went AWOL Brough left etc. I would not begrudge Kear a season to see how he does with some brass behind him for once. But on the other hand if we have a change for Noble i wouldnt be dissapointed either. What ever happens we need to get behind JK either way.

| Do you think Glover and Elston have the gonads to say to Kear enough is enough ?
Or is it a very close happy ship where he will be just given a new contract ?
