Some of the teachers used to go in. It was a if you dont tell we wont tell kind of deal. We would put on non school ties to make us look older and send the kid with the tache to the bar for the drinks.'"
We used to sneak off from Thornes House to see the strippers at the Speakeasy on a Friday lunchtime! We also used to go in the trinity room in the Mitre, needless to say the afternoon lessons were a bit of a blur.

Most of the kids were delinquents however, I would not have changed a minute. If your from that era you will remember Pips in town on a Monday and I think Thursdays. Young dumb and full of you know what. We were kings of the world.'"
I left in 86 so we will have crossed paths; got to agree with you - it was a tough place to be at times, but they were great days.

It's weird thesedays - todays youth seem to start their nights out around midnight, so Wakey centre is dead at what used to be the busy period of 8-11. What used to be called the 'walk of shame' now appears to be the norm.
Hey ho - another sign of getting old I suppose.

| General Info. live VERY close to the proposed site and and a few weeks ago all residents had a letter from Tesco outlining the plans.Said plans were very confusing as they do involve radical changes to the site with regards to access and layout.Believe it or not this is a quiet place to live but the few other residents I have spoken to seem to have no objections and neither do I.The plans do seem to take in the old Sainsburys store and being a daily customer at Sainsburys garage I questioned this and this was confirmed by staff.Hope this clears up any confusion.Oh an talking of old stores me old Mum bless her soul used to be Manageress of OOBIDOO/AVaGander back in the days an I was chief satday lad lol.

| What about the one at Trinity Walk? Can't see them wanting two stores within less than a mile of each other!

That is also what i've heard, the one at Trinity Walk isn't hitting anywhere close to the sales figures expected. Can't see them pulling out of Trinity Walk though, i'd imgine they're tied down to a long contract

I can catagorically state that both Sainsburys stores will remain open, both the one at trinity walk and the re-opened sainsburys on ings road. The one on ings road will be a food store and trinity walk will continue as it is now. More details will be revealed in tomorrow's wakefield express. It may also mean there is no tesco as matalan and the other business that they wanted to relocate to the old sainsburys site no longer are able to relocate.
