He may have turned over Heaven 17, The Human League, Japan, and Gary Numan to look for it.

I can't believe I'm the only person on here who surfed the New Romantic zeitgeist; you people are a bunch of prog rock beardy-weirdys.

Hey, I gave you Talk Talk before (although I preferred them in their later earth-loving hippy phase).
Just discovered something I never knew existed - part 1 of the 2 part "Smash it up" by the Damned... Wonderful stuff.

Never mind Talk Talk - given your user name, sig and avatar, I'd have thought you would be firmly on my side; without the White Duke, there would have been no new romantic movement!

There was no need for one. Bowie ticked all the androgeny experiment boxes. What came after were just a cheap imitations.

Just watching them at Glastonbury - I seem to recall them being good at some point in the distant past, but they're just going through the motions now; extremely dull.

My dad's favourite was Paul Robeson singing Old Man River.
Used to play it on the piano and sing it to us when we were kids. That was as good as it got in the 1930's.

We took a packed space wagon down to Wembley once driven by my Grandad, about 100 miles down the M1 someone said "Quiet, listen...what the hell is that???" We all listened up and the most horrible sound was coming from the stereo. My Grandad said "Paul Robeson, can't beat it." We laughed our heads off to it for the next 80 miles.
We then beat Sheff Utd 2-1 and sang along with Robeson all the way back.
The next trip down to Wembley was to play Arsenal, my Grandad had been doing a bit of plumbing just before setting off. All the way down it was complaints about my Grandad's b.o.
Great days.
