Probably was, then it wasn't.
One thing the new and old regime has in common is an inability to make "bigger" signings quickly for similar reasons. I don't think it's the fault of either to be honest. Getting players to sign for what we want to pay isn't easy and I think they tend to use us as leverage. Hence they drag on and often fall at the last hurdle as extra demand after extra demand keeps cropping up.
Before anyone says that can't be the reason because we are well under the cap and we have money - please don't. Just because we can doesn't mean we should. As a club we must not pay over the odds, certainly not at this point in the season. So if and it's only an IF Semi was holding out for more and we didn't cough then good, and long may it continue.
There are three types of clubs, those players really want to play for (Saints), those there happy enough to play for (Hull FC) and those they will play for (us)...one day perhaps...
Back to the bargain basement I suspect. |
