I'm a fan of Kear's but even the biggest of admirers has to be critical of his bench selection, the lack of stability in the team (moving players around constantly through the game), the lack of progress with our defence and the Brough/Cooke debacle.

1 win from 8 (possibly 9 if you included the Quins cup game) and today we were so far apart from Wigan it was frightening. I'd like to see Kear stay and get us back on track but i have to admit i'm slightly worried about the direction we're heading at the minute

I have to say that I think its a sad indication that the English coaches are being left behind by the Aussies. Its probably no real fault of their own, simply the Aussies are exposed to so much more information and detail about the game than our guys.

for me kear has to go now we shouldnt keep a coach because of what he did/done in past only on present,he takes all the plaudits when winning so he as to take blame when losing, one win in 8 says it all its the same rubbish week in week out we dont seem to improve on anything that we where poor on the week before ie last week dropping the ball all the time was worse than last week which i thought was impossible,at times he makes stupid team selections (our best forward at 6)forever playing players at different postions week in week out, then we read that he his looking at players like penny and whealdon when we are desprate for a scrum half.
jk as done brilliant for the club but its now time to end his time here,
with the likes of harrison(doing a great job at batley)millward and powell as possible replacments

That old chestnut

This is a forum not an annual review with one of my employees,i dont need to be constructive.

Oh and by the way,

I suggested someone months ago.

Ive backed my reasons up plenty of times with examples of Kears poor coaching and why i feel he should go.Why dont you try suggesting some valid reasons why he should stay, other than the pi$$ poor excuse that gets trotted out every time --- "Well who would replace him blah, blah, blah.",normally closely followed by "he saved us from relegation".
Oh and my particular favourite is "we couldnt afford anyone as good as Kear",that one always makes me chuckle -- as it suggests that JK is on peanuts.

There is only so far a coach can take a team

When kear took over you men you looked really good playing some good rugby now it's far to inconsistent but if he does go whos going to come in?

There is already 3 coaches going at the end of the season but no replacments

Trinity really do remind me of Wigan in the latter days of Brian Noble, I have to say I think it is time for some fresh ideas at the club.

Agree.

Too many players appear to have stood still or gone backwards this season.Prime example - Dale Ferguson.

Like many others,i think JK has done a sterling job in his time at the club, but his coaching methods are out of sync with the current game.

the words "silk purse" and "sow's lug" spring to mind

All those who are criticising the 'half-back' pairing, who would you have selected??
How many half-backs were available for selection yesterday?

I guess in desperation Morrison was selected as a solid and reliable player who could at least block up the ruck area defensively.

Do we have any accomplished tactical kickers available? Obst can do it in a supporting/part-time basis but doesn't have the skills to be the 'go to' kicker.

a very fragile team confidence (based on a good win against Quins and a decent performance against Leeds) was shattered by errors at the start of the game.
If we'd got an early lead like last week it may have been different ??

i hear what you say but with kear being probably the most astute coach in my time as a fan its a bit daunting thinking of any one else.

Kear hinted at fans being pivotal during the lead up to the Wigan game and with 'Ladies night' being a huge filip in morale for the Leeds clash I wonder if Kear believes we are partly responsible for the lack of motivation?

Harbin played the fans card just before his untimely end.

People are saying he should go some are staying he should stay. Reading this thread you can honestly see more constructive argument for him going. I have no wish to offend anyone but it is a sad state of affairs when the best argument for him staying is either 'he saved us a few seasons ago', 'who else is there?' or 'for me he should stay'.

When the question arises who is there, well who had honestly heard of Stuart Raper, Nathan Brown, Tony Smith or Michael Maguire (the list could go on) as established coaches before they came over here and made our coaches look Dickensian in their methodology.

As to he saved us a few years back, as grateful as we are in this day and age past glories don't really hold much respect like they used to.

When people say for me he should stay, it is really good that people still back him but offer something to back your statement.

For me I believe as a coach Kear has gone through more in the last two years than most coaches will ever go through. That being said Rugby League is now more business than sport and the powers that be need to take a long hard look. I have a lot of respect for John Kear and I don't believe he has become a bad coach overnight, I just believe he has gone as far as he can with us. Don't get me wrong I believe there is still a place for Kear at the club I just think it might be time for some fresh ideas.

Harbin was never a great coach at the top level, but he knew how to motivate, even if those skills had a short shelf life - it worked.

I worry if players can't get 'up' for games week in, week out, especially as that's their job. You'd imagine many of them, and I don't blame them for this, would see themselves in a shop window at Belle Vue, with good, consistent performances seeing 'bigger' clubs interested in them. You'd think the ones who probably aren't good enough to step up, would play well to keep a job possibly above their level of talent. You'd think they wouldn't need much motivation to keep going, as if it takes stripping in front of a load of women to get them there, I definitely worry.

Good luck with the panto and stripping and all that, but I'd rather they be training for their real job.

My arguement for him staying uis based on the fact that over the period of time he has been here, he has improved players, taken us further in super league than anyone else, and his win/lose ratio is excellent considering the player list we can afford.
The team has had a big dip in form since we lost players this season. I think he is doing his best with what he has and will take us forward again when we can acquire the right players.

At this time patience is important for the fans, and unfortunately that is not normal. Everybody wants success right now.
It was a bad day at the office v Wigan. Let it go. It doesn't mean we all have to cry about getting rid of players and managers.

If we get rid I think we will be a lesser club because of it but we might have a flash win or two but we still don't have half backs to take us through the season. If we keep him it might be slower but it will get better again over time.

It might seem brave to say but I don't think Wayne Bennett would do better with the team we have right now.
