| TBH this not a suprise....
when we signed Shane back in July someone on an aussie forum wrote that he had a spell in Sydney earlier in his career.... but was back in Queensland within months of taking up the contract....
the reason...
homesick!
I hope we can come through this sticky spell.... and get stronger... but that is what bieng a fan of the dreadnoughts is all about!

Whilst I have no re-assuring words - yet - I do not believe that our top 8 hopes have gone at all.
We are going through a painful period of seemingly endless transition of players. I do believe that this will, at some point, settle down and, speaking personally, all I want is to see a squad of players who are prepared to put it in each week for JK and the club.
If Tronc has issues, then I would say let him go - and I know that is exactly what the club will do. These are real people and their families should come first. I do agree with the Clan though - if there's a deal to be done for his services - go for it.
What we have left though still has the makings of a decent SL squad - if we can find that focus required on the field of play.
Write this club at your peril!

Roller coasters are all well and good when there's something genuine at stake, mate. It keeps people interested and on their toes. Unfortunately, I doubt the morbid fascination of the Wakefield public will be turned on by this particular dilema.
We've lost our star player to Huddersfield. One of our showcase signings has been banned for drug abuse. If rumours are to be believed, another of our showcase signings wants back to Aus, and the other two have failed to make any significant impact on this season at all.
I hate to say it, but I think we need a "sexy" signing to keep the season afloat. Either that, or we'll be relying on our youngsters again to bail us out points-wise, and tremendous though they are, they don't seem to fire the imagination of the floating supporters.
If this story is true, I feel very sorry for the coaching staff and the board. I'd be gutted if I'd put all that effort into assembling a good, competitive squad to see it thrown back in my face like this. I'm in a very dark place at the moment, and that's not because the light bulbs don't work...

come out of the cupboard and stop hiding,
Newton was a gamble and it didn't pay off but didn't cost us dearly,
Broughy was going to go anyway so at least a deal was struck before he went for nowt,
Tronc is a shocking loss to us as it leaves us short in the pack and can't expect the others to fill that gap,
Southernwood makes me feel he is taking a gamble to break into SL sooner than we would of used him as Jay Pitts did
heard another rumour but not going to repeat this one as this will send the fans wild,
so bring on the rain on friday and the duel with cas and looking forward to the monday Wigan game too

Snowie no harm in sharing it, it will get buried in the bad news we are all having to come to terms with at the present

It's how it's preceived by the fans/public at large that counts as much as on the field, at least as far as attendances are concerned. Newton may have been a gamble (one we could afford to take because we have plenty of cover in that area), but he's still a name, and love him or hate him, he could still draw people in.
Brough may have been going anyway, but Cooke as a replacement is just as big a gamble as Newton, and will need time before he shows us what he can do.
Tronc would be/is a big loss, as you say, and we don't have an immediate replacement. For all the praise that people have heaped on Gledhill, you can't expect a young lad like that, with all his talent and enthusiasm, to replace Tronc.
Through no fault of the club's, I have the feeling we've been right royally shafted. I'm glad you still have the enthusiasm. What I fear is that a lot of the Wakey public won't, which will make the remainder of the season and next season all the more difficult. It goes without saying that I hope I'm wrong.

| i have to say don't think we can take much more of this, it's all bad news for us at moment, yep sure we got cookey in, but lost newton , brough and now if true the best prop we had in many a year in tronc, people keep saying there be no money to get anyone else, but call me thick if you want but where is all the wages money from palyers off loaded ?? we seem to be lurching into abit of a crisis and just feel where will all this end!!!!

| Is the offloading of Brough and now what seems little effort to keep Tronc to a contract all finance related?
I do hope not as the club has progressed well on the field over the last couple of years...........sadly it seems maybe not as positive behind the scenes?
I do feel for the true rugby fans at Wakefield
