Quote: Catwoman1 "Cannot understand why Cas fans are so cocky that GH will be chosen ... and even less why our fans think a great development like NM is dead in the water!!

Have some belief in our club for goodness sake I don't think NM is dead in the water, merely the council are delaying matters to try and force Trinity's hand.

Quote: Tricky2309 "This post says everything the majority of us had already worked out and seems to be perfect evidence of Wakey being shafted by both the RFL and the Council. How can a groundshare at GH be muted at Christmas when Yorkcourt had only just revealed the Newmarket plans (and why is it necessary if Cas have the funding as everyone keeps telling us). How can Cas be so sure they will get a further franchise when the criteria haven't been released yet (and surely starting building in 2012 is going to be too late)

Another question, if GH is so far along why is it going to take another 1 and a quarter years for building to start? I am sure that subject to the outline planning going through NM would be starting building long before 2012.

Clearly a share at GH would be the end of the club as Dicky Wright is only using us as a means to an end.
Let shope the club stick to their guns on this and refuse a groundshare. We should tell Box and his cronies not to waste their money on a feasibility study which isn't going to make a blind bit of difference, cos we ain't sharing at GH. He should either withdraw the offer of the land loan from both clubs and let us get on with our separate projects or find someway to justify giving it all to Cas (which is what he has wanted to do all along)'"

With the offer of money that doesn't exist.

It's all carrot and the stick with Mr Box; he will dangle the 4M offer to both clubs in the hope they can set aside their differences and come together. Once clubs have done that I have no doubt he will then withdraw that offer under the premise of A) We have been further cut by central gov, or B) If both clubs have come to a resolution you have enough shared resources and partners to fund it on your own.

As I said this all screams of "carrot and the stick", except with Mr Box it's more like "give you the carrot and beat you with the stick!"

If anyone else has read Peter Mandelson's book (or extracts) I wonder if anyone else can see the resemblance.
Mr Box is a "King maker"- He's never their from the start, or even when the hard graft is being put in, but some how always manages to turn up and create some sort of crisis which requires a knight in shining armour to reslove. Enter Mr Box and his ill informed, biased rant to the local rag last week with his "new road map".

The next election any aspiring local politician looking to take down Mr Box could make a killing using this farce as a backbone to their campaign, and to be fair i think they would find a lot of support regarding the unrepresentable amount of funding and resources being designated to wards of our district who pay us no loyalty what so ever.
The WMDC will simply never create a united community.

Funny those same blokes who like shopping were the same ones making those homophobic chants at GT.

Some people have some repressed impulses I think over in the eastern wards......
Saying that with some of those Cas birds who could blame them?

Quote: Dettoriman "
The only reason RW is welcoming the feasibility study is as he knows it will bring out GH as the favoured site, As Newmarket will get rejected when it reaches public enquiry'"

Interesting viewpoint and not one that is shared by the gossip in development & construction circles. As far as the local gossip goes, Newmarket is favourite to get the nod, for a whole host of reasons, money being the biggest one! I also feel, as do others I speak to, that the likely hood of it getting to a public enquiry look ever slimmer under the new coalition government. I understand that the new Tory MP for Rothwell & Elmet might possibly have been 'advised' to keep his head down and mouth shut from now on.

The Newmarket development WILL go ahead, with or without the ground, it could happen quickly if the ground deal sticks, and it will probably happen a little more slowly if it falls through. Even if it does end up at a public enquiry, I think will almost certainly get the go ahead, once again for a whole host of reason, but in the main because it stacks up and the current NIMBY's have little in the way of valid counter argument to the scheme.

In summary, Cas have an outline planning permission and not much else, the Newmarket scheme has everything else (in place) accept a planning permission... and it will get that eventually, with or without a ground!

Is this RW's way out. He knows he can't deliver a stadium for Cas due to lack of funding so passing the buck to a council who decide on Newmarket will leave hime to be able to say " Well I tried but the council did us over"

I was speaking with a Developer yesterday who also feels that Newmarket will definitely go ahead sooner or later. Wakefield is short of employment land for the future and Newmarket fills that need.

Also the Government announced yesterday that Government Offices will be abolished adding to their statements that decision making will be passed back to a local level. Furthermore I'm led to believe that planning applications that have been called in by Government Office and passed to the Minister are being returned such that the Local Authorities can determine the applications. I'm very much of the opinion that Newmarket will not go to a Public Inquiry - this Government will not want the time and expense.

Newmarket will happen, it can happen with a Community Stadium or without. That decision lies firmly with Wakefield MDC. If they approve the outline application we could have a Stadium in time to meet the franchise applications (or at least work commenced).

Newmarket can only fail if the Council want it to fail for political reasons so lets see what the feasibility study throws up.

Cas also have enough money to build a phased stadium, council money delivers the full stadium.

The whole "CAS DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY!!!" rubbish started on here, by a Fev fan and people believed it, but there you go.

A phased stadium is still a new stadium, with or without the council Glasshoughton will be going ahead, and RW has said as much, but he doesn't need to worry, because as said previously, it's being known since Christmas Wakey wanted to share at Glasshoughton.

Newmarket will happen, but you may have to spend a year or 2, and nothing more at Glasshoughton.

Hang on, you are sort of putting words into my mouth here, I didn't say that they didn't have ANY money, they do, but not enough to build a whole stadium (as you say) and that other factors do appear (although, are these now being sorted) to still be in the way to releasing monies required. Also, the wants and desires of Waystone are different to that of Yorkcourt and that is also a factor at the moment.

I don't support either club and I really do want both clubs to get what they want and hopefully not the expense or detriment of the other but other people seem to be making that decision! I support the Newmarket development and as a local resident I will continue to support it whether it has a ground on it or not. I was responding to the OP who was the one putting down Newmarket and making some statements I considered to be rather rash!

Great post... that is mine and many other peoples opinion within the Yorkshire based development and construction sector.

You are correct though, just have to wait now and see?
