| a lot can happen within the one year, he's taking as much as a gamble as the club is, if performs wonders then he becomes a wanted asset, if he fails to please it could work the other way and his career takes a backward step
I reckon next season we hit the ground running and get a great start, can't wait

| Most logical deal all round, Hampshire potentially has another year playing in the halves, if he does well his stock will have risen, Trinity get a talented young player for another year and may benefit from his presence for a full season and gives them more time to look for a replacement should he decide to move on.

| Me and my dad were both surprised at the length of the deal. Young player who has shown his quality towards the back end of this season. He will only get better. Disappointed to not see him commit for longer like Jacob and the like but I am glad we have resigned him overall. I do wonder who insisted on a solitary year. I'd be surprised if it was the club.

| I guess one side though could be that at the end of the 2019 season, some of our overseas players will be OOC, so it gives us options to look elsewhere too.
Also he hasnt played a significant amount of his career in the halves, so it gives us a get out should he not develop as we all wish him to.

| One year has a logic to it. It's clear that his agent (and possibly Ryan himself) wanted more money but we couldn't give it. Ryan may well have wanted to sign for longer. As TheMightyTrin has said, at the end of next year there will be a few more contract negotiations and there may be more "wriggle room" to pay more for a longer contract. From that point of view it does suit both sides. It would have been nice to have a 1 year "with options for further years" but it may have been a step too far for one side or the other.
Whatever the reasons I'm really pleased and I think Ryan will get better and I look forward to our half back partnership being one of the best in Superleague.

| No issue with it s this at all. If Ryan is all some people say he is then another season should allow him to prove it.
If he isn’t then CC and MC were right.
It will put Ryan in the shop window and if he sparkles we will still be in pill position. We may be out bid in pure cash terms but security, convenience and being part of a team are still big draw cards.
Now as far as the player is concerned he’s a talent but he’s way off what Finn was a few years back in terms of game management. He needs to up his kicking game and vastly improve his last tackle options.
He needs to learn from Finn, he is obviously a far better athlete than Finn but not yet there brain wise. There is no short cut to experience to be fair to Ryan but doing what Finn teaches him will help speed it up.
Great news

| Hampshire and miller are not going to get us in the top 5 next season(although they did this year partly) but as long as we are not last its all we need to be.

LOL. If this is meant to draw a reaction it's a poor one (he says reacting)
Why won't Hampshire and Miller get us in top 5 next time when they did it this year?

| In a stalemate situation, I can see why a 1 year deal works for both parties; and if he does kick on and set SL on fire, I'd be willing to bet that before the window, he'll sign an extension so that WT can cash in with a transfer fee.
Good to be going in to next season with settled halves - the alternative would have been much worse.

| As the negotiations went on this was the likely outcome. Happy with it. At least we go in to the break knowing who our 7 is next year and can build from there

What a joke of a post! I'll check the League Table once I've stopped laughing.

| I said on the other thread when Ryan and his agent were apparently looking at other potential Clubs when we offered him a 3-year deal i think it was. That may be a one year option would be the best alternative for all parties. Ryan then can hopefully continue to improve and really turn himself into a great half like his junior days suggested. On the other hand, Trinity keeps a settled partnership with options after next season with where we want to go, that's if it works out or doesn't. Just glad it's finally sorted.

No idea who that could be or how many'"
From Wigan, Tautai & Powell are 2 names that keep popping up as leaving, Tautai to Warrington and Powell to Salford.
