The noise was phenominal.

| Quote: Redscat "The old west stand was pulled down around 1988 as I recall. the players' changing rooms were underneath the stand as was the bar. at half time you used to have to wade through pools of spilt Beverley's ale to get up to the bar. There was also a tunnel under the stand to allow spectators to move from one end of the ground to the other. it used to take about 10 minutes to push through due to the crowds.
at the time the west stand was demolished I worked for Wakefield MDC and I obtained a section of the timber valance from the front of the roof as a souvenir. I took it back to the office and got a rollicking off my boss because the whole stand was riddled with woodworm.'"
Haha, in Cas most Beverley ale got spilt as it was too vile to drink.

I had the Main Stand in my head and that’s the one I was referring to and not the South Stand.
The South Stand was pulled down for a number of reasons all of which were bull - to facilitate the moving of the pitch by 25m South to make way for a sports complex at the North end was one, because it contained asbestos and was unsafe was another - both were bull as I said. It was a cracking stand and should have been left alone.

I think you may have to check your dates on that game. I assume you mean 1952?
They'd have got 100 in 1982.

| South stand was demolished in 79, I heard they were going to build a Tesco there or some rubbish but it never happened.
Dunno who's special project that was, it sounds daft enough to actually be true...lol

| The concrete blockwork boundary wall at the rear of where the south stand used to be (now the flats) was allegedly erected by the legendary second-rower Bill Ashurst during his tenure at Trinity. It was affectionately referred to as "The Bill Ashurst Stand" by some fans.
