WE ARE WAKEFIELD, WITHOUT THE RICHARDSONS’ WE ARE STRONGER:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_42850.jpg

Quote: bellycouldtackle "Money does mean that the wealthy clubs attract and keep better quality of players. That said there are many areas where we can improve and areas where are standards are just not acceptable and should not be accepted . Firstly I would suggest that our players are not as fit as the Wigan - Warrington players. This is an area that Brian Smith highlighted and was so dismayed that he brought a specialist over from Aus on a three month contract to try and get our players fit , he obviously had no confidence in our fitness staffs ability . Yet the same people who have season on season failed to get our players fit are still in their jobs . We seem to concentrate to much on strength training, from speaking to players who have moved on to other SL clubs they point to simple things like there were surprised by how much running they have to do in training at their new club. Wigan stated that it took them 4 months to get Tautai up to their required fitness standards . So it seems that we could be miles behind in this area and could therefore improve massively .
Secondly I think our senior players over the last few years are simply unprofessional, we have an attitude that runs through the players that results in inconsistancy of performance , one week we play with pride , desire , passion the next week we pack in and let 50 points in . Look at the desire of the best sides in defence , they simply fight for every inch of ground , they defend their line like their lives depend on it . To me this is all about professional pride and attitude . I am not counting the young players in this as they take their lead from the seniors but our attitude stinks . We have senior players who look like they simply do not care . Don't get me started on Kirke and Anderson but it that type of attitude that infects the place . Again this is an area that can be improved , we need to sign a couple of players who are leaders , who have pride in their job and will demand 100 % from the squad everyday.
I would suggest that our game plan can be improved , with the quality of players we can afford we need to keep it simple , respect the ball . We consistently give the ball to the opposition in our half and then don't have the ability to defend . We also give away more penalties then any other side . Again we can improve , a game plan which cuts down our error rate it easy to introduce , and professional players should be able to improve on the ammount of penalties they give away .
We need a new captain. We need some rugby brains in the side. Our defence has been poor for a long time , fitter players with a professional attitude , with a pride in performance , with a never say die attitude are better players .
So the good news is that we have areas that we can massively improve that should make us more competitive and a better side to watch .'"

These are all things which we as fans can see and point out so let's hope MC and Chester can do something about it. The coffee club culture has to go and players who dont like it are showing they haven't got the right attitude and can go as well.

Why should the coffee club culture have to go, the players should be allowed to relax how they want after training, as long as it's not illegal or dangerous.

By coffee club culture I was referring to the laid back attitude that seems to exist in some of the senior players who didn't like Brian Smith cos they had to work hard

Sorry, but it was nothing to do with the working hard bit.

The 62 0 defeat of Wigan was an anomaly a freak result hold onto it if you want vastman wear a t shirt with the score on.
It simply has no reflection on anything and to use it as a barometer of where we are as a playing group is bordering on the dillisional or hopelessly optimistic .

Bl**dy hell there is not much hope for this club if fans like you dismiss the teams best performances in years as "freak results", it was bad enough when everyone else was doing it. I bet the team are really chuffed to have this one chalked off by some keyboard warrior as a "freak" rather than a first step in the right direction.

We were playing some brilliant RL for the middle third of the season, but hey you just bin everybody's efforts nothing. Wigan are not so far ahead of us but they do have the bodies and thus they can maintain form which we can't, it's not rocket science.

If you do nothing else at least change your name, full of hope by backside - just another moaning negative Wakey fan. I don't blame the players for giving up to soon, after all it's only mirroring the attitude of people like you.

Again, that's just my opinion and I'm giving it freely and I don't really care anymore if it offends - please feel free to give me some back.

The problem with our fans is expectation has risen too high, with the mid season success we all enjoyed! The old line about fitness coach is just plain boring now...there has been absolutely nothing wrong with the fitness of the lads the last two matches....there was nothing wrong with the fitness when going over and winning in France in searing heat....

Our problem through our recent run was quite simply down to the injury crisis...is it any coincidence we've been far more competitive the last two matches when key components of our pack have slotted back into place? Grafters like Ashurst and Molloy have got back fit and healthy and there's been much needed go forward added to Fifita with Simon & Anderson back in...

No disrespect to the youngsters, or fringe players but through that tough period when there is 3 or 4 of a combination of youngsters and the likes of Yates, Walker, Walton in the pack then there has been the problem! When we've had what you would consider a strong and healthy squad on the park we've played pretty well on the whole...

That says to me the strength in depth isn't quite there yet and the nature of the modern game dictates that if you go into any game patched up you can quite easily be on the end of a hiding...62-0 against Wigan proves that....the strides we have made in the last 12 months though is staggering....the next step on the ladder to the slow process of turning us around is to build that quality of depth through shrewd signings and hopefully the likes of Crowther and Batchelor to name two, to step up to regular first team players like Jowitt and Johnstone have done this year...

It won't happen all in one season...patience has to be key...I'm more than happy how things are going at present though...it's nowhere near as bad as some make out! The comment about coffee shop culture is just laughable!

And just another point...those two 'different class' teams Wigan and Warrington....I've seen us beat them both at Belle Vue this season!

Great post by Upthecats.... eusa_clap.gif

......squad needs reviewing with some to go out of the door & another 2/3 SL quality forwards to come in along with at a SL quality half back and another genuine hooker to compete with Moore for next season.

Plenty of genuine pace/competition in the outside backs for next season.Looking forward to seeing MCB in the red, white & blue. icon_biggrin.gif

All we need is a dose of unsportsmanlike unbridled fury, aggression and damaging physical violence, mixed with a complete disregard for our own and our opponents well being, and we'll be as good as the top 4 sides...icon_smile.gif

Talking of a different class, that is exactly what Soward was this afternoon.

Cant believe we are even contemolating half a game a month Campese when this blike is lingering in the championship.

Can see him going to somewhere like Hull KR or Widnes and playing us off the park.

Can see it now, Campese out injured again so Kyle Wood comes in eusa_wall.gif
