The pass for Carney's try was so far forward I can only assume the linesman had something in his eye at the time. Finn released the pass on nearly the ten metre line and Carney collected it just about on the try line.

From what I saw of Mr Hicks gestures, a Wakefield hand touched the ball thus play on. Even though it was 10m forward.

It was forward out of Finns hands therefore a forward pass, everything else after that is irrelevant.

Mr Hicks is too easily influenced - he lets the ruck go on too long and quite often doesn't make a decision until the players around him have made their representations; and Shenton helped him on a number of occasions - must have picked up that particular habit from John Wilkin whilst he was at Saints.

Not a particularly good performance, but not so bad as the two televised matches this weekend, where the ref seemed to have a more direct impact on the outcome of the games.

At 22-6 down even then I said we couldn't blame the ref. I thought he had a great game. We blew so many chances in their 20 from dropped balls to obstructions. I just hope we've not used out get out of jail card this early! Things looking good though. Over time those passes will stick and we will get our timing right. But we already have the guts and resolve to not give in. You can't coach that.

I felt that the thing that caused us a problem with the dropped balls was Cas's rush defence.
They were often off side, but then so were we. The difference was they were very good at passing close to the line where we were just not quite there.
The pass and drop offs we were trying were very Warrington-esque and if we can make it work (meaning fast hands and no drop) it will be great for us, but in this game we couldn't do it.
What worked at the end of the game was a good go forward and very accurate passing from Smith.

Was it Collis? It was right in front of me and I'd say it was Owen. Maybe I need my eyes checking.

Don't know if it was forward or not , but it was deffo Owen's fingertips' that touched the ball and put Carney off slightly.

Was surprised at the time but tv shows that Miller was clearly pulled back when Washbrook kicked ahead. Actually he was properly tackled.
Then we got penalised I assume for off side.

Ref seemed to let a lot go both ways. For me always preferable to 99 penalties each per half. Then again Daryl Powell did have a snide 'a few forward passes not noticed' comment in one of the interviews which seems a little childish and sore loser to me. First game back the lads were blowing some; discipline bound to slip both ways but as long as its fair both ways and safe for the players
