| I'd play Scruton ahead of Kirke, sorry I did include him originally but swapped Anderson in and forgot to put him on the bench. But I don't think Ryan has shown enough in the pre-season to justify inclusion compared with the others. Webster has some difficult choices. This raises the same questions as last year in regard to a second team. Whatever team Webster picks we're going to have a lot of forwards left out, where can these lads find form, match fitness and stick their hands up for a first team shirt.

| Didn't see today's game but thought Ryan looked a real threat against Leeds and took his try well. He has pace and some size for a second row and was a stand out last season. I'd be really surprised if he does not start alongside Kirmond in the second row against Cas.
Simon may get the bench spot ahead of Kirke if Kirke not fit in time..

| I'm guessing you'd be playing Ali from the bench as an impact sub then?

| As far as the fans go it's just personal preference who gets left out in the pack, one things for sure though, they will all get a chance before the season's over.

| Washbrook would be first choice 13 I would imagine
Scruton was the stand out forward today and played more minutes than the rest. Simon was good until he got nailed.

| Quote: bellycouldtackle "Chris Anakin was again our best forward today, the coach gives him very little game time, and the play makers often miss him out but once again he showed today that if the coach puts him on the field and the play makers give him the ball he will scatter defenders. He changed the second half for us today, he came on carried the ball twice setting up a try and getting us on the front foot. Then he didnt get a pass. He must play against Cas.
Did not think that was the type of game we needed today, not our fault that Hull rested most of their first choice players, as a result our defence was not tested. That said we put some good moves on. Thought Kirmond and Ryan were poor today, Lyne was very poor in defence. Sammut looked good but is obviously not in the coaches thoughts.
Massive well done to Owen who had a great game. MacShane went well as always. Not sure where to hide Miller in the line, him and Lyne defending next to each other was not good at all.
Plenty of positives, bit still lots to work on.'"
Not sure how you have him as the best forward other than you're making a point. He had an impact but so did a few others. Scruton for me but they were all pretty good.
Agree as bit more game time would have been nice though he was blowing a bit.
Didn't think anyone was poor in defence and the score tends to back me up.
Hull were not that week and the peddling of this myth is a bit tiresome.
Hull were about half strength which equates to a two thirds strength Trinity team. With this in mind the margin of victory was about two tries more than I would have expected from a foolish strength Trinity side.
However as I always bang on about friendlies are hugely misleading, however the was some endeavour on show but whether they translates into a real game we'll wait and see.

I'd agree with that.

| I'd also like to add some of the ball play from the forward was good too, something we haven't really used and looks like we're going to begin too. Some nice weighted passes to another forward when running at the defence was nice to see and some breaks were made from them.

| I'm a big Ali fan but as this was his only run out I'm not sure he'll be as ready as the others for Cas.
Saying that, he is usually a stand out player when we play Cas, so if he proves it in training I would play him.

| Webster has some difficult choices for his first 13/17 of the new season.
All 3 wingers have now put their hand up and although Johnstone may not get the nod for the Cas game, at the moment any 2 from Riley, Owen and Johnstone will do nicely and with Owen having been discarded from Cas, he would have plenty to prove.
If we have McShane and Godinet as our rotating hookers, there will be a difficult choice to be made over Sammut or Miller.
And then we have our pack to sort.
Washbrook is likely to be our starting 13 with Scrutton and Anderson starting props and Kirmo in the 2nd row then its take your pick time.
You would think that Ali will be nailed on for a spot on the bench and perhaps Ryan (who can cover at centre if we get any injuries in our three quarters),
but who gets picked from Smith, Simon, Paea, Annakin, Ashurst, Molloy, Trout etc
In previous seasons its been far more simple to decide who our best 13/17 are but, this season there seems to be plenty of options in most positions.
Of course, as the seasons goes on, injuries will restrict Webster's selection headaches but at the moment its going to be really interesting to see who gets the nod
and nobody will be able to get away with not giving their all for the cause.
Cant wait for the opener against Cas.
Come on Trin !

Hull were half strength?
Don't know where you get that from
The only first team players on show were
Ellis 10 mins
Jamie Shaul 20 mins replaced the injured Naughton
Tom lineham wing
Marc Sneyd 7
Bowden prop may make the bench against Huddersfield
