Quote: wtid71 "Just that he is finding it really tough at the minute and that his home life suffering. Various posts to him slating match day problems etc etc.
He doesn't seem the type to want sympathy but I think considering all his efforts to date our support this season is vital.'"

Well he wouldn't be human if it didn't wear him down, only way to prevent that is to avoid it by being less accessible but why should he do that.

In many ways it's a thankless task but for every negative moaner there are a hundred who appreciate the effort, commitment and sacrifice, I hope that MC knows that.

Let's hope that some respite from the onslaught is just around the corner but until then, for all ours and the clubs sake, keep the faith MC!

Quote: wtid71 "I was really saddened to see on twitter that our chairman is feeling the strain of being at the helm of our great club.

After the incredible high of the end of season match v Cas we the fans were sunk to the depths of despair when the whole truth about the Elston/Glover overspending came to light.

To come to where we are now at the start of the season with what I believe is a competitive team is nothing short of a miracle through the efforts of MC, Kath, Martin Hopkins and what appears to be a very small back room team.
Yes it was an abysmal performance on Thursday aided by a certain mr Hicks and the fact we were on telly added to the embarrassment but let's please us the fans not forget how far our club has come in the off season.

I firmly believe we have some of the best fans in the league with instances such as the works going on to sort the ground out, the efforts of the supporters trust & instances like the fans sponsorship of Wildie.

Yes we have a right to moan about our teams performance but I think our constant moaning about issues such as pies/bars & entry to the ground need to be put in context. I can only imagine the hard work and efforts that must have happened down at BV for the first home game of the season.
It is all too easy to have a go from the comfort of our armchairs when I for one couldn't even begin to organise such a big occasion on such a small number of staff. Yes there will be mistakes but us as fans need to support and get behind them.

Rant over.'"

Personally think MC is/has done a fantastic job. However, questioning himself on twitter when the players including new ones who have just arrived (on what one would perceive as positive messages given) is not the way to go IMHO. What message is this sending when the commander and chief is wobbling.

Message for MC. Don't listen to most of the tools on here. You have/are doing a good job, this is sport and we will no doubt see one or two more dreadful performances but I truly believe what you have achieved so far is a success in itself. Hold the line form the troops and you will reap the reward... Although you are an astute business man you are dealing with professional sports peoples egos and the media hanging on every word; so I guess it is very different and sometimes you can be a little too open. The only open thing that maybe good to come out and say is that after everything you have all done in the last few months you expect a whole lot better attitude and performance from the players.

Keep strong and continue to lead. It's not just WTW fans that recognise what you have achieved so far others in the game have too...So that alone should tell you something!!!

I agree with the previous posts MC has done a great job turning the club around, managing to have a competitive team despite every thing that has happened in the last 6 months. eusa_clap.gif

He needs the support of fans not corrosive criticism lets get behind the team and show our presence through the turnstiles plus any other means to ensure the financial sustainability of this great club....

Has anyone actually criticised MC about anything? Yes the team and coaching staff have copped a bit after thursday and probably rightly so after that performance, but other than a bit of a catering and bar cock up which i'm sure will be sorted for next time i've not seen anything else or anyone having a go at the chairman directly?

MC has done a good job in very difficult circumstances and deserves praise for that. I imagine its the excessive hours and stress thats causing the issues and family should ALWAYS come first. Its a rough & tough job being the boss of our club and i hope he can find the right balance. He pulled us out of the steaming pile that Glover & Elston left and he will always have my gratitude for that, whatever he chooses to do for the best.

Not being a member of the twitterati I don't know what's been wrote but personally I'm pleased he's frustrated.
I think it shows that he's human, he's putting the effort in and perhaps that combined with supporters moaning is getting to him.
We are a basket case of a club and arguably as a group of supporters too, with just cause if you ask me.
I don't know one person that I have spoken to (on here or in the real world) that doesn't think he's doing anything less than a great job, Agent X111 apart of course, and he was a numpty!!!
I want him to continue because I think his pragmatic approach to running the club is our only way of getting out of the "basket".
This club has a million and one problems, and fire fighting what you can while inching forward with others and at the same time being criticised for ignoring the others must be frustrating but equally it's typically Wakefield.
Equally he doesn't have to or need do it, and that would be a worry for me.
Keep your chin up Michael keep doing what you can, you'll never please everyone...certainly not here!!!

I've had the privilege of Michael's company in my house discussing a matter regarding Jordan and I can honestly say,I have never met a more genuine man,he met myself at the drop of a hat and honoured his word.Michael and Kath Etherington are doing more for the club and future players than most out there can see.Stop this slagging off and get behind him and his staff before you have nothing or anybody to slate. If I posted on here what I'd like to say about various people on here I'd be banned for life, you knw who you are a026.gif

its no wonder he's feeling the pressure with the threat of relegation hoovering over the likes of us, why should Bradford get special dispensations keeping their team together while we had to re staff ours at the late stage of the year.
at the end of the day its his and Chris's money that's been invested in the club

There is no doubt that MC has done a superb job in taking us from the brink of admin to where we are now.
Patience is the key, a trait that sporting fans are not usually known for.
I don't think the hard work and stress of running a club like ours will ever go away but, as we start to get some results things will get better all round.
Come on MC, realist the excellent work done and despite the moaners, EVERYBOBY appreciates the job being done.
The problem with twitter and the forum is that there is always a knee jerk reaction on here and in the bigger picture, things are never that bad.
The highs are not as high as they appear and the lows are not as low as they are portrayed.
More of us need to remember just where we were 3 1/2 months ago !

I guess after working near miracles to get to the start line, the reduction in capacity was a real kick in the nads.
I think MC was quoted as wanting a 6.5k average crowd this season to stay buoyant and he should, quite rightly, have expected at least that figure for the first game. The light at the end of the tunnel was in fact a train coming the other way.
With only 3 matches at home in the next 3 months, cash flow will be a big challenge.

Maybe we need to be a bit more proactive in getting the numbers up, and perhaps this is somewhere the Supporters' Trust could take a lead?
With season ticket sales being fewer than we would have been hoped, we need to push advance ticket sales. Getting people to commit to attending, (especially after a couple of pints with their mates?) and guaranteeing entry could be the key.

If we had agents in different areas around Wakefield coordinating sales through local businesses (shops/pubs etc.) and amateur clubs, the numbers could improve. I've seen posters advertising the next home game in such places in Stanley, perhaps we could extend this by making tickets available. Sale or return basis, with a deadline a few days before the match?
There will be some cost, printing tickets etc., but if the coordinators/agents were volunteers, it should be minimal.
Another possibility would be to have tickets available on-line which could be printed out (like Salford?), but maybe security and technology costs would be prohibitive?
Worth a try?

No one has done more for this club than MC has in the last few months and you will get the fans throwing a teddy after performances like Thursdays but that's frustration and not aimed at MC.As for the bars etc lets remember the club have just taken that side in house again so give them chance.
