according to Stevo it was forward, perfect example of what's wrong with SL commentators, we see a sublime pass like that which creates a great try and all they can do is bitch about it possibly being forward, which it wasn't !

The commentators over here always focus on the negatives and I think it puts people off watching the game. Over in the NRL the commentators are mostly positive and credit the players involved rather than slate them for a forward pass etc

The sky commentary was once again terrible. All they were interested in was highlighting the negatives and continually telling everyone how many injuries Catalans had. Those two idiots need pensioning off asap, it is turning into an Eddie Waring situation all over again.

All they did was cheer for le catalan and spend the whole night pointing out where they thought we'd broken the rules or got lucky. The pair of them need to go, now!

The whole diatribe from Eddie & Stevo after Lee Smith passed the ball when he was tackled was truly embarrassing.

They were still arguing about it after Catalans had kicked off after the try, when if watched in real time, ala Bentham, it was a close call, but no, they have to play it back in slow motion again & again to prove the point – pathetic.

Good effort from the lads, TBH a very comfortable victory, Collis was very good & the defence was much better too – apart from Timmy who’s gone from a rubbish tackler, to a non-existent one.

Can't remember but did the SKY pundits mention that Catalans had 9 injured players out?

Couldn't agree more - that rant about the L.Smith pass was cringeworthy; even Eddie tried to shut it down but Stevo wouldn't let it go.

Not sure if Phil Clarke harbours some grudge against Tim Smith from his Wigan days, but as soon as that sublime pass was thrown, he said "That was forward." If Matty Smith had thrown that pass, Clarkey would be reaching for the Kleenex.

To cap it all off, they decided early on that the pitch was too hard and then referred back to it all night, in between lamenting the Catalans injuries - failing to mention that they were replaced by internationals, one of whom scored two tries.

It's just embarrassing now - Sky must realise that they're ruining the enjoyment of televised games.

Also notice how many times they referred to Widnes's fantastic & historic win at Saints?

Must admit that is becoming true to a degree but he still offers us far more than he costs.

I agree and I find it really worrying. They seem to be deliberately trying to devalue their own product. Any sporting neutral tunning in would have heard the commentary and concluded everything about this game and RL in general was crap and turned it off. When you start to rubbish the product you are trying to sell it only ends one way, its as if SKY are loosing interest in the game and trying to lower the ratings.

Finally got round to watching the game on Sky.
I feel disgusted with myself for being there last night and enjoying my teams success when it is obvious I should have been more sympathetic to those poor Catalan players who had to travel all this way without 9 first teamers.
If I could bear it I might review the gams again and see how many times those 9 were mentioned.

Watched the game again and the Tim Smith comment above is incorrect. He was in the first tackle of the game and didn't miss any others.
The first try was inside him but he was sliding out with the winger to cover 4 players between them. Mellars and Ali didn't slide across fast enough.

He also covered two early grubber kicks that no one else saw so his defence was fine for me.

His attack was outstanding.
