Can't remember who was the last full back to be as safe under the high ball as Max. This was illustrated last week against Wigan. He took every high ball; some even to the side of him. Chuffed to bits that he's signed up.

Great stuff. 2 years is a strange one though. Usually with a youngish player it's a minimum of 3. Its the same as Ashurst's deal who approaching the end of his career. Jowitt should be in his prime at the end of the deal

is it that strange really when you think about it the sky tv deal runs for two years, no one knows where the game is going or going to be, will it still be full time. One thing you will get out of max is 100 % every game he might make the odd mistake like every other player but he will always give 100%.

Thought crossed my mind that it could do with the financial and structural uncertainty, but other clubs are handing out three year deals (McShane)

Martin Holland imho.

Matt Blaymire was pretty solid but not as useful going forward as MJ is.

Mathers was'nt bad either.

Yeah Blaymire was pretty good except for lack of pace, he was plain slow even though he looked like he should be quite fast.

Holland and Spencer but the problem for both was a lack of pace.

Holland was pretty quick then his knee gave way. Probably have recovered today with modern techniques.

Holland was the best cover tackler I’ve seen at BV.
