| Should be a interesting game on that pitch! Thought Hull's forwards took the juice out of our defence today causing people to be out of position..

| Wakefield should win this with a canter.
We (Widnes) have been in diabolical form and show no sign of improving.
Bridge, Brown, Gerrard, Gilmore, Ashall, Farrell and Johnstone all out for the season or the next 3 weeks at least. Looking at playing possible one half back in Mellor as other options are out injured.

Not really, there was an obvious problem that even you could see. We lost Tupou and Simon in quick succession which disrupted us.Then we lost Lyne and that's when we really struggled to handle them.
That is nothing to do with "tightening our defence" but just a series of unfortunate events on the day as far as I can tell.

| So Vasty do you consider us to be the finished article defensively ? no room for improvement what so ever ?
I happen to agree that the injuries caused us problems, but we can always improve.
Desire, effort and determination are perhaps the most important factors for a success defensively, we are talking about full time pro players we presume that they can all tackle and position themselves correctly, the most pleasing aspect for me about the team at the moment is that no one can question their effort, it is fantastic to see and worth every penny to watch them give their all for the cause. Their effort cannot be improved on.
Yesterday was a great sporting event, to good committed teams both giving 100 %. Just a pity someone had to lose. Very happy to see the Wakey fans stay to applaud the lads for their efforts.

Nothing to do with what I posted. We can always improve but that was not the issue yesterday IMHO.

| No team in SL would have lived with Hull in the first 20 minutes and that was what tired our defence in my opinion.
I say carry on - Widnes cannot match the Hull forwards.
Our attack is very pleasing and some of the tries we are scoring are top drawer.

| This season is proving that no game is a gimme - results are all over the place; HKR destroying Cas yesterday was in nobodies predictions I'd guess, but it's mitigated our loss to Hull somewhat.
So - whilst Widnes have tailed off and have injuries to key players, it's by no means a dead cert; we need to be at the top of our game and sharpen up some of our defence - and hope that Tupou and Lyne can recover. (never thought I'd hear myself say that)

| Lynne could be out 6 to 8 weeks according to the club's twitter feed.

No criticism of this team who are competitive and giving it a real go which is great to see..
But I wonder if we had enough grunt up front with the yardage their forwards made through the middle in the second half? Could we have done with an extra prop on the bench instead of a second rower?

Lost Lynne for 6-8 weeks, Tupou for 4/5 loose teeth and 15 stitches, Simon out with head injury and Molloy with ankle injury..only Ellis facing a ban..who hit Tupou?

That was Ellis too - he was also mickeying on gravestones on the way to the game, and dancing on the toilet roof; the lad's gone right off the rails since he went to 'Ull.
