From love RL
Friday’s game between Huddersfield and Wigan is in serious doubt as Covid-19 once again threatens to cause major disruption to the Betfred Super League.
The Giants have reported at least five positive cases which would be enough to force them to close down training and take them to brink of postponing the round nine fixture at the John Smith’s Stadium.
A decision is thought to be imminent on what would have been Huddersfield’s first home game in front of fans for 15 months.
It will be the first fixture of the 2021 Super League campaign to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic, which caused havoc with the 2020 season and prompted the Rugby Football League to rule that league positions would be determined by win percentages.
The amended format was maintained for this season and extended to both the Championship and League 1 with the likelihood of more fixtures being postponed and unable to be re-arranged.
The Championship match between Halifax and Sheffield Eagles in May was postponed after two Eagles players returned positive tests and five more were forced to isolate under track and trace regulations.
Sunday’s Women’s Super League derby between St Helens and Wigan has been called off after a Saints players tested positive in the wake of Saturday’s Challenge Cup final victory over York and more than five of her te

| This is embarrassing, closing the world down and destroying the economy and livelihoods for a virus with a 98% survival rate. Life's got to go on we can't wrap ourselves in cotton wool forever.

Seems a bit out of date. The UK is very much coming out of the cotton wool.

Is it?
Every variant is deemed the "worst ever variant" until another one comes along,,,,,,,,, S. Africa, then Brazil, then Kent and now Indian.
If this goes on with the variant paranoia, I suspect that we will never get out of removing every restriction - even though this a virus - that has been around for a long time..
Just like the flu.
I was stood near a young woman on Sunday who kept telling me that she had not been vaccinated and would I move.
She was stood closely with her older family members both of whom weren't wearing masks.
I pointed out to her that she would have more chance of going out of the ground and getting run over by a bus than contracting Covid-19 with how close we were stood near her.
I was looking forward to enlightening her further but she shut up after I said that.

You smooth talker.
Without wanting alert Miro to a thread he'd be interested in, some changes will always be in place from now on. In terms of washing hands and not being quite as close to people you don't know.
I reckon we'll probably end up having vaccine boosters in future too, especially when travelling.
But we need to have businesses open and while we get there I'd rather wear a mask in stores etc. It's not a hardship if it makes people feel more comfortable.
