Given that this is an area that we need to strengthen, I have just read that Kyle Trout is without a club.

Could he do a good job for us?

I am familiar with him from his time in the Leeds academy.
Still young and with family connections to Trinity he has add some super league experience with Hull K R.

Perhaps Willie Poching has a view on him?

Could be another player who really finds his feet at Wakefield.

What do others think?

He's signed for a french club! Think he might even be playing this weekend.

We’ve already done this on the 2021 squad thread.

Think we should keep away from players that have spent all there time going from club to club .because there not good enough to hold down a regular spot .Tried it last year and it was a disaster. We need a prop who as proved to be steady away in S L .Hope we can get the lad from London back

You mean like most Aussies, or Westerman, or loads of other players who’ve given us great service. A bit insular to say the least, there is life outside the Merrie city.

Sorry but to me your argument makes no sense.

From what I’ve seen of Trout at Hull KR I just don’t think SL is his level.

Tend to agree with you Willzay, watched him at Dewsbury and did ok, was quite surprised when he went to HKR but was in a side which were performing worse than us at the time so could possibly cloud our judgement, if we are chasing a prop, apart from Batty I’m not sure who’s available for wakeys budget.

Are you getting your Trout's mixed up? Kyle Trout was a Wakefield academy product who played 25 first team games for us, then moved on to Dewsbury via several other Championship clubs then HKR.. and is now without a club. Owen Trout (his brother) is the one who came through the Leeds academy. and is I believe now at Huddersfield.via several loans to Championship clubs.

With prop forwards and money being thin on the ground I have a couple of names that could both be a revelation if we could get them here and both are Wakefield lads.

Jon Luke Kirby 22 years old 6’5” 112 kg currently at Huddersfield. Was all set to play in the SL squad last year but unfortunately picked up a season ending injury. He’s fully fit again now but needs games and could be a huge asset.

Ben Kilner 22 years old 6’4” 110 kg currently at Wigan. Played I. The SL team last year and is a tough hard ball runner who has a big engine. Doesn’t mind mixing it up and will do the hard yards all day long.

Not sure we’d get either on a permanent basis but a season long loan isn’t out of the question.

Owen Trout is no from me. The market will start to move in the next few weeks as we approach the seasons start. Hopefully we’ll secure Battye to soothe everyone’s nerves though I think we need one more.

It’s the way to go assuming the money is there. We have been extreme quiet on the transfer front I must admit. With CK, BJB, Naverette, Brough, Gigot and Kirmo off the books there must be enough for at least one or two new signings even if we don’t replace them all.

Yes, Kyle Trout. don’t think he’s SL level.

Owen must only be 20/21 and plenty of hope for him yet.
