| To me, that looks like re-cycled news. Whatever the situation it's highly unlikely that the club could be in the wrong, It's not a crime to pay over the odds for something when you need to buy it more than the seller needs to sell it.
I suspect it has everything to do with Mani and his activities whilst owning the ground rather than Trinity's purchase or anything that they intend to do.
Unless Trinity bought it with dodgy money and I suppose nothing is impossible if highly unlikely it's an issue in the past as far as I can see. We simply couldn't have got a mortgage had anyone else had a call on it. That's my understanding anyway.
Still, the fun never stops

| Probably best not to speculate.
We know now that we bought the ground from a dodgy geezer, who acquired the site initially using money from dodgy sources. That appears to be beyond doubt.
Equally, an organisation called Local Democracy Services or whatever is making waves about the money spent, although it was pointed out that although the site was only worth half of what we paid at the time of the purchase, the value of it to Mannie was what we paid as he was valuing it on the basis of it being redeveloped.
My only worry is that it will delay the development of the ground, not that it will wreck anything. If you undo all the purchases, it will merely go back into the hands of the Bank of Ireland, who would merely sell it again, and it's value at the time they sold it was peanuts compared to what it was eventually sold for by Manni.
If the police receive information, they have to look at it, even if it is nonsense.

| The more the authorities look into this the more worried a certain ex council leader might become. The only impact on the club i would see is having their pants pulled down on the price. The sale to 88m would have been legit, maybe the BOI needed more due diligence when understanding where Manni's funds had come from.

| Any purchase with public funding/money should carry a high level of due diligence, I guess the question is where that responsibility lies in this case.

| Like Slugger says, slowing our work down is the big concern. We are unlikely to get any money back so that bit is down to Manni being investigated and paying fines.

Interesting timing for “new evidence” after all this time and directly after planning has been put in.
We will have to wait and see what comes from the investigation.

I find it difficult to believe, that any one connected to Trinity, would have a spare £600,000, to pass onto Manni. Had that money been available at that time, then that person would have been able to purchase BV, as the speculation was, Manni paid BOI, £600,000 for BV.
It is a worry though, any delay to the time frame outlined by John Minards two weeks ago, would seriously impact on our SL status, if SL franchises return, as I believe it Will, in the next couple of years.

Strikes me as a bit more than coincidence. This is the second time within a few weeks, that serious attempts to destabilise our club has been made. A few weeks agit was a player revolt against our coach/management, and now corruption over the purchase of BV. I just hope any investigations bring everything about this sorry saga to light.

| You get the feeling that some of the same "dark forces" that seem to have worked against Trinity for the last 10 years or so, are at it again.
Is there anyone who can tell us just who has raised the issue. is it a member of the public or, has it come from within the council ?
So many other clubs have had their respective local authorities helping them to deliver new stadia for their local clubs but, we seem to have the absolute bloody opposite.

| The bottom line is if we did nothing wrong then this will be concluded fairly quickly. With regards the money provided by the council this was a loan and not a grant so providing the terms are being met and are legal which one would expect they will be then the local taxpayers will have no reason to raise any concerns.
The only concern would be why pay double the actual worth, one would expect that they had advice on this but then again this will have been covered under the initial investigation.

| I actually think this is a positive piece of news. The club can show it acted well and with the support of the local authority. We all know that several companies abd people are likely to be questioned around this. Only thing I can see is positives from this that if we paid over the odds then the investigation will hopefully turn up why we had to do so & the whole deal might be looked at again.

As Slugger pointed out we know we paid over the odds, he had us over a barrel but we knew that.
We clearly needed the ground to move this latest plan forward and he knew that.
The real question is why Box advised us not to buy it from the BOI when he must of known what was going to happen. It defies logic that he didn’t know that NM would collapse and that we should most definitely have purchased it at 600 k.
Who knows it could be the club whose sniffed something out and made the complaint! I have no idea if that’s the case by the way just pondering.
We all know some very dodgy stuff has happened and it started the moment Yorkcourt became involved, coincidence? I couldn’t say.
