MC featured on Calendar News programme tonight going into detail about the danger the Club is in owing to coronavirus. We stand to lose £1,000,000 in gate receipts which, without assistance could well mean the end of Trinity. Lots of vintage film coverage emphasising the vaulue of the Club to the community. I think MC stated that the club employed either 120 or 150 people which surprised me somewhat.

Dark days ahead folks!!!

Yep, people need to sign up for Trinity TV or the lottery, anything that keeps cash coming in. It won't replace the money lost or even come close but cashflow is everything. Just a pound a week from every fan would probably be enough to keep the creditors at bay assuming the virus runs a similar course to that in China.

Dark days for everyone I'm afraid.

I have just tried to sign up for Trinity TV and it gives an error message. Something about incorrect stripe something or other...I've checked several times. Grr

I think that MC is also on BBC Radio Leeds at 7pm tomorrow (Friday) with James Deighton and other guests examining the impact of coronavirus on rugby league.

It won't particularly help to swell the Club's coffers in any ways , but in these forthcoming days without any Wakefield Trinity action until at least April 30th, It may be a good thing to keep the Club in the mind by people getting involved in a big way on this Forum. The last thing we need is for supporters to take on an attitude of "out of sight, out of mind" and come the resumption of the season having found other things to do. So even if it's regarding discussions about former players, the old days. tactics, whatever, lets keep things ticking over on here.

It would be beyond frustrating for MC if this folds the club, after all he has done to stabilise it.

Boris is stuttering and piffling about being over the worse within 12 weeks. If that's the case, scrapping the Challenge Cup and a top two into a Grand Final that takes place in late November might be the way. It will allow all clubs to complete their home fixtures.

At least we have someone at the helm who will give us the best chance of steering us through it. Hold tight.

Contact the club or I'll happily do it for you. I think the TV is run externally but I'm sure if MC knows he'll sort it.

I'm no Boris fan but with the best will in the world, the bloke has a lot on his plate. People are expecting instant answers to every question and there simply aren't any. In fact, I'd be more worried if Boris wasn't stuttering because then we'd know for certain it was pure bull.

Let's not panic here, no serious un-rectifiable damage has yet been done o the economy. Everything is out of whack but with the obvious exceptions of say Holiday companies and retail catering etc all will eventually come back into line, if as I say we see a China type scenario. Not saying there won't be short term casualties but it's not in the banks or almost anyone's interest other than say the most parasitical of investors to not do everything to keep most businesses afloat,

Of course, all that could alter if we don't play our part and support the nation and do as we are told as happened in China. Easier in China where they generally have to do as told but there you are.

I don't agree at all with the Govt's initial response being loans to business - without including direct help for individuals - but if I were MC, I'd be looking at applying for the grants and loans now, and worry about the repayments later, when we come out the other side. That could be something that supporters could help with then - rather than expecting people to help now, whilst they're worrying about their own business, jobs, families and health.

Kicking the can down the road I know - but that was always the intention of the "350 billion package" in the first place.

This isn't aimed at MC or at Trinity but, for me, if my business becomes insolvent, the very last thing I would want is a loan to keep me afloat.
If a business is already X million in debt, the thought of adding to that seems reckless.

The government really needs to re think its strategy on this.

If they were directly covering the wages of firms that are struggling, it would allow those companies to carry on without adding substantially to their debt and if they want to help to ensure that businesses dont fold, they have to do something along these lines.

I couldn't agree more - the whole thing was a con; packaging it up as a £350 billion package was outright dishonest, when only £30bn of it was direct help for employers; and it should never have been announced without also creating help for employees - either directly, or through their employers.

More to come at 17:00 today, so we'll see what that looks like.
