Given his/her usual response to the subject, perhaps they're struggling to sleep.

“It started well before my time, probably looking at 40 years now of frustration, but we’ve had a couple of positive meetings with the council recently and hopefully we’re heading in the right direction and get to announce something soon.
“My biggest fear is that whilst we’re doing so well on the pitch, one day Super League is going to come knocking and say ‘guys you’ve had enough time here, it’s not good enough here anymore’ so we’ve got to get something resolved and hopefully we can get that done.
“We’ve still not agreed a deal with the landlord next year but I’m hopeful we can have one last year at Belle Vue and come the last kick of next season be ready to go to a new stadium, not being ready but ready to start on it and get it built because the city of Wakefield is crying out for a top class sporting facility.”'"
Not much news really, more of a hope.

Well we all live in hope don't we?
A community stadium for the CITY OF WAKEFIELD would be a great facility for all who live here, with the various events it could be used to stage.
If all those millions can be spent mainly for people who don't live in Wakefield (The Hepworth - which incidentally I don't begrudge even though the building and contents I find aimed at people on a different planet to me) then why can't the people who actually live in the City have a place to go to, to get enjoyment.

| Goes beyond Wakefield. Tremendous boost for the game as a whole to see an iconic club in a new ground.

I love the Hepworth - I'm a regular, and it's always busy, and whilst it has brought in tonnes of visitors from outside the City, I'm sure that plenty of people who live here also enjoy it and benefit from it; I'd also love a Community Stadium and would enjoy that equally.
In short - it doesn't have to be an either/or - we should expect both - and but for a useless, dogmatic Council and its ties to shonky developers, we'd probably *have* both. It's especially galling to have spent the last 30 years watching Leeds blossom into an amazingly vibrant and exciting place, and we don't seem to be able to even get scraps from the table - Mr Box and his useless cronies should be thoroughly ashamed.

| Only thing I noticed recently is that Thornes park school has been sold by the council to the Penny Appeal. There could be a connection as The Penny appeal is a Muslim led charity that raises funds for development in Muslim countries. The connections are that I heard, read, was told that the Thornes Park school site was going to be given to our landlord by the council on favorable terms as part of the BV development plan, ie a typical Box move you scratch my back and I will stab you in yours. So unless Our landlord has some connection with The Penny Appeal it looks like that offer has been withdrawn. The only other connection I can see is that I understand ex Trinity directors are on the board of the Penny Appeal and TR also has some involvement. No such thing as a coincidence, wheels within wheels and all that.

The council can't give the TP site to anyone on favourable terms - it belongs (or did until just sold), to Wakefield College.
