This Forum is a bit quiet of late, so just as a frivolous exercise I wondered who were other poster's three favourite overseas players in the last sixty or so years. For the record I would say; Jan Prinsloo, Wally Lewis and Ray Price.

Two for me Jason demetriou and Darren Fritz close 3rd Brian Jackson

Price, Fritz and Solomona.

JD, Glenn Morrison, Obst. Purely for their professionalism.

Like your selection Willzay. Obst certainly one of the best. His work rate was phenomenal. I once saw him make six consecutive tackles at the play the ball. Only other person that I've seen match that was Pita Godinet. Morrison was a big loss to this club. I would have liked him to stay in some capacity, ditto JD.

At his peak and at that time I would say Wiilie Poching for me. Gutted when he went to Leeds.

For me not necessarily always about on the field of play but :-


Steve Ella - stayed when the kiwis left and a joy to watch
Ray price / Wally Lewis - just for raising the clubs profile and media attention
Garen Casey (and a few others) without which we would not be where we are today

It's rare but I seem to remember Richard Slater doing that a few times too, he was a tackling machine!


In terms of my favourite overseas players I'd go with:

JD - his commitment to the Trinity cause was unquestionable
Solomona - absolutely oozed class
Sonny Whakarau - just one of my favourite players but I can't really say why

Wally Lewis...not called the King for nothing
Ray Price....absolute machine...gave 100% every game
David Solomona...pure class.

Hard one this but I always had a big soft spot for Obst, cracking player for us. JD and Solomona would be the others.
If we can count current players I'd have Fifita in as well.
