With all the drama of the first team, no one has posted about this kid.

He represented England Youth against France last night.
He is a centre in our under 16s set up.

I know there are people on here who know the kids better than I do but this is great for him and the club. Especially in a position we don't often get coming through our ranks.
Hope he makes it.

Well done Corey

Great player and has huge potential but it it won’t be at Wakefield.

Obviously the pick of the U16s but the club has failed to secure him and he’s gone to Wigan

Interestingly the last player Wigan took from Wakefield has just made his debut, Liam Paisley.

Unfortunately that's the way it goes, at wakefield anyway.
I suppose, as Trinity supporters we find it hard to accept the lack of loyalty to the mother club , but money talks!

If Wigan come knocking it would be hard for any youngster to turn them down really, that’s not a dig at Wakefield’s set up, they are the Manchester Utd of the rugby world .
But we may get to see him in a Wakefield shirt later in his career when he’s a much more accomplished player .

I know a player who played for U16s and 18s for England and stayed loyal to the club, so I suppose it works both ways.

it was always going to happen with Liam as he's a Cumbrian lad and was more likely to move to a club with more financial clout than ours.

I could look back and think while he was with us it stifled my lads playing career as he was always first selection and played most of the games but it did show he had the desire while my lad chose it wasn't what he wanted in the end.

unless we can meet a similar pay structure we will never be able to compete with the wigan and saints and they will be always be the clubs being spouted as having talent coming from that area.

having players staying loyal with the club is very rare these days

If he comes from Cumbria I understand the move more.
Shame though

I may be wrong but I thought Corey Hall played in the back row.

He played 13 against Saints but I'm sure he was named at centre for England

In fairness there could be a million and one reasons why Wigan suits the young lad better but let’s just see the positive side and acknowledge that yet again our academy has produced someone who’s fit for Super League.

Corey’s a Yorkshire lad, plays anywhere in the back line but long term will probably settle at centre.

His decision isn’t just about money!

I’m sure it isn’t. Instead of bemoaning the fact that Wigan, amongst others, can sign the best and brightest talent from under our noses we should be looking to emulate them and make Wakefield a good career choice. I’m sure that is the aspiration of those in charge, but until this club is in a much better place financially and stadium wise it won’t happen. The signs are there that things are turning around though - especially with MC at the helm and a talented coach who is big enough to admit he’s still learning.
