| Pity that this project / masterplan, Wakefield Eastern Relief Road / Wakefield City Fields Development,in Wakefield costing £0.5 billion [yes that's £500,000,000 or £500 million however you want to put it] and which joins Doncaster Road less than 1/2 mile from Belle View Stadium could not have incorporated a £10 to £12 million Wakefield Community Stadium!!!!!!

| Maybe it could. It may very well be one of the options in the table that Box has suggested

I have been using it every day since its opened instead of having to use Marsh Way to get thro' town, its great not having to continually stop for traffic lights. Also great to see my old playgrounds off the Eastmoor Estate where i was brought up in the fifties and sixties. it's suprising how much land there is available from where it starts at the bottom of Bar Lane near Pinderfields hospital, right thro' to Doncaster Road at the bottom of the common.

| A rumour about this actually appeared on the Cas nutjob forum a couple of weeks back. Maybe thats the way around the councils £2 million donation, it being given as land rather than hard cash.

Wasn't the £2M always coming as land rather than cash anyway?
I seem to remember this being mentioned back at the start of NM, the same offer also being made to Cas.

| I pondered this what the scheme was first revealed. It's a shame NM seemed still a goer at the time otherwise it would've been a perfect opportunity to design a stadium onto the scheme. As others have said there is still plenty of space so it could still be incorporated should the will and funding be there.
It's a great road to drive on too. Not sure what it will be like when it's becomes the norm but it's certainly alleviated some of the congestion through Eastmoor, Kirkgate and Doncaster Road.

| The Wakefield Eastern Relief Road is great, it's halved my commute time morning and afternoon. I'm pretty sure traffic will increase once things start happening on the City fields site but for now it's bliss. And as I found out yesterday, it's massively reduced afternoon rush hour traffic into, through and around the city centre via the North Wakefield Gateway, a road system which appeared to be designed by someone while tripping on LSD.

| It would be nice to think that we could have a brand new stadium built into a residential area instead of an industrial one, especially as there's supposed to be a pub going into the bottom of the city fields development. Though to be fair, I'd happily take a new stadium anywhere

I would think that the figure you quote is likely to be an estimate of the money paid by firms to build/buy warehouses etc. plus the price of the houses built on the land etc. etc. It definitely won't be the amount spent by the council!

Agree there. A pretty much exact copy of LSV and the stuff round it would be the ideal scenario for me.
