| … a mutley medal.
Seriously I have been a big critic of his but I’m beginning to think he’s getting it.
1, over a week since the MPG and not a single negative comment on Twitter or anywhere else. In fact just a steady trickle of very positive news.
2, the sacking of T Smith and to a lesser degree Locke. I know we won but we’d have won easier IMHO with T Smith. However he broke the rules and Carter/B Smith proved no one is bigger than the club. It was a risk but it’s paid off with a strong message sent out that the club is tough but fair. I say fair because Lyne who it appears was just caught up in a bad situation could probably have also been sacked. The way he’s played this year it could have been tempting, but as he was unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time then he was given the benefit - that was pretty fair IMHO. Ditto Anderson who was out of order even with mitigating circumstance - a slap on the wrist was all that was required and that’s all he got. Great man management by the CEO and his Coach.
3, if the stories are true then telling L Smith where to go with his pay demands was a master stroke - the one thing you can’t ever do is let the Players and his their parasite that you can be bullied by an on form players demands. Message sent out very loudly in this case. Sad really because I don’t see Smith as that kind of player - I suspect he took bad advise from his parasite.
These are big steps forward IMO and with the signing of England (a player who would make most bottom 8 teams) is another good start.

| Don't always agree with Vastman but always appreciate and respect his posts which, whether I like it or not, often turn out to be perceptive and correct.
Am pleased to see he is changing position on MC which speaks volumes about Vasty but also demonstrates that even the sceptical fans are being won over by MC who, in my opinion, is doing a bloody fantastic job in the circumstances.

| Spot on Vasty.
Carter has his critics yet I understand and support more than 90% of what he does. I think the only steps of his I would reassess are his historic approaches to social media. Yet we are in 2015 and I think a slightly different social media strategy can be used to our advantage (one like you suggest, positive or factual news and ignore trolls).
The discipline steps are, like you say, very appropriate and handled well. It demonstrates a level of professionalism from management.

| Like the others I agree completely, although I can't really comment on the use of Tw*tter as I can't be doing with it myself. Onwards and upwards I say, and I reckon we're actually it could be more than just words this year.

You're beginning to think he is getting it?! People accuse me of arrogance!!
Carter has been superb, played his hand, which has been a tough one very well and has given the club a base on which to move forward for the first time in a very long time.
The pressure he has been under it's not unexpected to see a few rants on twitter.
Maybe, just maybe it's not him that is "getting it" but you in hindsight.

| Its a bit scary to even begin to believe things are generally on the 'way up' re:Trinity, as they usually come 'tumbling down'.
Fingers and everything else crossed.

| Also he took on the Bank of Ireland and won. I do agree that he needs not to react to the Twitter stuff however like most of us he is sensitive to criticism and wants to address the balance.
I would like him to take the bull by the horns and insist that away fans have the West Terrace. If the odd home fan wants to occupy the same piece of concrete they've stood on down that side for the last 40 years then let them.

No jonh he hasn't been superb actually and that's not just my opinion. It's not arrogance its opinion, and as a real Trinity fan rather than one who picks and choses I'm allowed to express it on an open forum.
I am fully aware of how difficult a club like Trinity is to run I don't need a bandwagon jumper like you to tell me. I’ve seen this club rise and fall at least three times and always done my bit.
So you tell me this, why should I have to listen your pious crud when I’ve seen real fans like Bigal forced to walk away - I get that. I’ve seen Wisca, Squadbuilder and most other fan organisations shunned and ignored to a point where they virtually don’t exist anymore - I get that. I’ve seen the Academy crash and burn under Glover and not improve one bit under MC - i get that. I’ve seen the club leech fans this season like never before - I get that. I’ve seen endless bad publicity in the last two seasons, more than the previous twenty put together - I get that. We’ve signed some of the worst bandits in RL and made ourselves the destination of choice for them - I get that.
We can turn this into a negative thread if you wish I’m not short of ammo, or we can move forward - but don’t you dare lecture me - the last few years have been awful and though not all of that can be laid at Carters feet he has to shoulder some of the blame - I get that.
So Jonh you tell me what you don’t get.

Vasty has already succinctly responded - and has also correctly added MC has nicely turned some
situations around, without a hint of arrogance.
There were some really low times at BV last year - and the Million Pound match may just have been the turnaround of this. Fingers crossed.
You don't help yourself do you?

| Firstly you are covering old ground. Michael Carter had 1 job and he has achieved it. There has clearly been a strategic plan all along, like all plans it has been reviewed and changed due to circumstances.
Obviously he has and will make mistakes especially considering he is still in real terms brand new to the role.
Lots has had to be sacrificed along the way to achieve the ultimate goal. I'm not for one second lecturing anyone, I do however find it amusing that you seem to think he is finally "getting it" after saving the club and ensuring it remains in SL. Running a business involved priorities he has had his and the job has been done.
I'm sure however that in the wake of him saving the club he will be over the moon that in your opinion he is "getting it".
You can get personal all you like, I'm a bigger man than that and significantly too intelligent to go down that route. If fans have walked away that is a shame, but I guarantee a lot more would have walked away had he concentrated on other distractions this year than remaining in SL.

Now that's arrogant.
You have it your way, however I'd love to know how the fans of your beloved Wigan would have reacted to a season that was only a tenth as bad as ours let alone the one we got. Or is it your belief that Wigan fans have a right to success whilst Trinity fans should just lump it and be eternally grateful to sit at the foot of the table.
As for personal - how so, what bit wasn't true?

| No club has a right to success, good clubs well run succeed poor clubs fail.
Not sure what Wigan fans have to do with any of this but it is worth noting that attendances increased in the season where we were so poorly run we had to cheat relegation.
Remember Vasty, posting on here does not make you a special fan, you are posting on an open forum to a small percentage of fans, some of who you may know.
Lots of people who don't post on here have done a hell of a lot in the past and recently to support the club but don't feel the need to play the big I am to a small set of generally level headed posters on a forum.
The fact you call me arrogant by the very tone of your opening post says significantly more about you than me. As I said however you enjoy the fact that finally Mr Carter seems to have come round to your way of thinking over the course of the last few weeks.
Being totally honest I highly doubt if Brain Smith thought either Smith or Locke remaining at the club would have had a positive effect on the squad, results or ability to remain in SL they would have been let go. I genuinely believe visa allowing in the case of Smith they would have remained with the club IF from a rugby decision they would have contributed in a positive way.
Still what would I know I'm just a fickle Wigan fan.

Surely it would make more sense to put away fans in the North Stand. This way the pro segregation brigade would get their wish and those of us who stand on the West Terrace for the best view of the game can stay where we are.
