Worth it's own thread I think to congratulate ourselves on our away support.

Considering how bad the season has been and how gloomy the off field some times looks, the traveling support has been outstanding.
Let's keep that for the home games and give the team a big lift ................and give MC some pennies too.

Daughters chap who came with us yesterday said that it was the 3rd best away support at HKR this season, but like you Pop,the support yesterday was awsome. eusa_clap.gif

Yes the support is good now. Some Rovers friends of mine commented to me about it too.

I do wonder though if it is a reflection of how meaningful matches are now, our pick up in performances or just a few glory bandwagon jumpers. I don't recognise too many faces from Warrington away or Saints away this year.

Either way, if our home attendances increased as much as our away attendances have in recent weeks then we'd be a lot better off financially.

Keep on cheering the boys on.

Jumping on the bandwagon when we might have success, such as staying up or winning a game or two.

Definitely better away support from Wakey than i generally ever remember. Better than most other 'big' SL teams. The Middle 8's is the better competition for attendances, not much to play for with the kept points in SL top 8, 3 teams with sod all to play for. Keep it going and hopefully can help turn the corner for the club, keep SL status and bring Wakey back to a level they belong at, rather than continued hammerings like this season.

I guess when I can afford to go to watch any away games then I'll be classed as a glorified bandwagon jumper

I jumped on the glory band wagon in 1973.
There has been a couple of down hills but generally I've been sat in a long traffic jam.

REDWHITEANDBLUE and snowie I'm sorry that you took my observational post so personally. I was afraid that might happen and tried to word my comment to avoid that. Is that a fail on my part?

If anyone understands about not being able to make every game then it is I. I am frequently on business trips abroad and can't get to games. Even though I have had a season ticket for a few years I know I can't even make every home game. I also don't even live in West Yorkshire so going to a home match is a journey, but I am willing to make it.

If I hold my hands up there is only 1 match this season when I chose not to go when I could have potentially made it. That was Wigan at home. It was on a Thursday night and was televised. I had things to do early Friday morning. Since I had already given the club money through my season ticket and supported them whenever I can home and away, I still felt a little uneasy but knew it was the appropriate choice. It was a school night, difficult to get to and rescheduled due to Sky, not the club.

I am not seeking any recognition or praise for my attendance I am just classifying myself as a certain type of supporter. That being the same type as supporter as you are, people who go to matches whenever they feasibly can through affordability, commitments and location.

Now let's put this into context. How many of those at Hull KR or Leigh or even the AJ Bell fit our category? A third if that? How many of those could afford and were able to go to matches earlier this year but chose not to? They chose not to for reasons individual to them but I'm willing to bet it was highly influenced by our poor performances. Hence the reference to jumping onto the bandwagon when our performances improve.

My point being that when the club is doing better more people come along for the experience. When the club is doing poorly, the less committed ones drop by the wayside. This is hardly rocket science, it is how sport is.

I welcome the increase in our support over recent weeks. What I would like to see is an increase in home attendances and also for more of these people who (have choices) choose to come to a game now will then choose to commit in the future as much as we do.

Whilst I can see how it can be misinterpreted, my posts are not meant to be judgmental. I am identifying the different types of supporters there are in sport. Sadly we don't have a large number of people like ourselves, that is people who try to make watching our team in person a priority.

I think the home support is now fixed with only the die hards remaining. The increase in away support is just an increase in the number of these die hards feeling a bit more positive.
Therefore the home support will, unfortunately, stay the same.

Away support was always gong to increase for the 8s. Renewed hope and all that. My son seems to have finally learnt to sit in a seat for 2 hours so I'll possibly be at more aways now.

Wildshot calm down you don't have to justify why you do / don't go to games.
I agree with wollo, the games are more important & meaningful so just more of the remaining long standing fans who attend home games have gone to the S8 aways.
The 2 homes may also have seen good attendances if only they hadn't been moved to a ridiculous time of a ridiculous day.
