| Just returned from BV after watching a great effort from the boys. I have berated Miller in the past but tonight I thought he had his best game in a Wildcats shirt. After the poor start and Hull going in for 3 tries in fifteen minutes I thought here we go again, but no we dug our heels in and showed we could play a bit. With a referee who could actually see what was going on we may have won by more. Some great runs by Simon and Annakin. Tansey didn't look out of place and Kevin Locke man of match. If there is a different referee on Sunday and not that useless idiot Hull could find it even harder. Congrats to Brian Smith as well,

| Gutted I couldn't be there but listened to every minute on the radio and couldn't be more pleased. The commentator described the atmosphere as electric like a cup round and the way he said the boys played made me very proud to be a WTW fan.

I listened to it on radio bbc radio humberside, hilarious. You expect a bit of bias but every thing was ok until Wakey started coming back into it. Gwillam Lloyd is a joke, doesn't know the players and doesn't know the rules. Anyway great come back and congrats on a long awaited win.

| We'll done tonight. I don't know how you lot have put up with what you have over most of the season, you're a credit to your club. Best of luck for the rest of the rounds.

| I enjoyed that.
Well deserved. They worked hard and got their just reward.
I think there is more to come too.

There is, it is Mr Leatherbarrow, another one to add to the list of senior referees we've had this season.

| So the morning after and my voice is coming back a bit.
Reading the Hull forum and especially the guy who does their pre and post match report, you'd think Hull gave us the game out of kindness.
I watched from the flats this time and had a good view.
We didn't switch on at first and they really put pressure on us. We were taking the ball out from our line and getting 2-3 yards each run. Their big forwards were gang tackling and then charging in and making 10-12 yards each drive with a lot of yards after the hit.
That was bound to cause us problems and it did. Each of the tries were caused by the second row being drawn in and not covering the half back in defence.
There was a massive hole left by Molloy for the first and then Kirke was woeful for the next two. He must have got a knock because he was hobbling around for ages.
As soon as Washbrook came on that hole was plugged and they didn't get anything on that side.
Lyne stopped two certain tries with excellent defence and Locke stopped a try when they were over the line but he turned them.
After all their effort they tired dramatically and didn't have the points they expected.
Gradually after bossing us so much in the forwards we got to equal and then on top as they tired.
Our forwards really worked them hard.
With Miller, Godinet and Locke showing running options near the line (which is new for us!), the Hull defence dragged even more and we took advantage.
The rest was all effort.
I was pleased with Scruton as Captain. He had a very good game and for a change we had someone shouting the orders when we were conceding tries. He barked at them after the third try and he meant it.
Paea looked like a man playing against boys at first but Simon started to match him in his own style as the game went on. Lots of leg drive after the hit and made lots of yards. He was my man of the match.
But most of all, over Locke's skill and Millers side stepping, we won because we put more effort in and when we were in trouble we tried harder. When Hull were in trouble they accepted the defeat because they were so tired.
For the new signings, Locke showed his skill but will be a lot better when he picks up fitness. He was stretching his back a lot and clearly couldn't put the peddle down when he got the break. He adds so much to us, and is a great signing.
Tansey hardly got a look in but took a couple of high ball sthat showed we should be kicking some high kicks for him. He looked keen.
Sio I was really impressed with. Tough tackler and very energetic. He really shook someone up when he hit them, again something we haven't seen much of this season. He and Godinet seem to like playing together.
Lot's to improve on but a great win for us. Will give a lot of confidence.
Bring on Sunday!

I only watched from about 55 mins cos I had a meeting in Doncaster until 8pm. However, from what I saw I thought Scruton, in that time, was the least effective forward. Simon and Molloy however were excellent and ran the ball in like trains. Nice bit of strength from Scruton to to set up the arundel try though.

Very good summary. I too thought Hull came out to blitz Trinity hoping they could get enough of a lead before their energy levels dropped. 2 months ago that first 20 minutes would've been enough.

| Scruton put in massive minutes yesterday. 35 minutes at prop forward in this heat and at least 25 in the second half. He did seem to get more into his game though in the second half but I thought he did well especially from the work he was putting in.
