Keep franchises out of our game: |
|
| After 54 years of watching Trinity I don't think I have ever been so worried about the future of the club. I have seen us go in to administration twice and just avoided it this close season but at the moment there just seems to be an air of defeatism from the Chairman , the coach , the players and the supporters, including me.
When we thrashed Catalans earlier this year all hell broke loose in the french camp. The owner made it clear that the performance was unacceptable, the coach threw a wobbly and certain players were told in no uncertain terms to improve their fitness or face the sack and their performances since have been better despite some defeats.
But after yet another 50 point defeat of Trinity , I have lost count of how many they have been, we hear absolutely nothing from the owner who is the first to complain if supporters dont buy tickets but says nothing when the team and coaching staff fail to turn up metaphorically speaking. From the coach we get " We were shell shocked at half time " and the player who did try despite being played out of position was the only one to apologise to the fans. The website seems defunct apart from another tie up with a company I have never heard of and no news of the stadium short or long term . Are we still on reduced capacity? Snowie will probably let us know but when was he employed as publicity officer? Has Fox left or is he in contention for Sunday ? Who knows because no one actually employed by the club really seems to care about the supporters, oh yes we want you to buy season tickets but once you have bought one we dont want to know you till the next seasons tickets go on sale or the next lottery is launched or the next plea for cash to keep the club afloat . I think this is the reason I am most worried it is because I have never known a time when I have felt that no one at the club really cares.
I know someone will come on here and defend them and say the supporters are the club but wouldnt it be nice if someone employed by the club actually answered my criticisms either on the website or in the Express.
I am so worried I cant sleep !

| Poor guy. Try some cocoa or go for a run. Its clear Wakefield's objective this year is finish 12th which I think will by done and dusted in august. Leave the worrying for 18 months time!

| I have mixed feelings tbh. On the one hand I wouldn't expect anything else from the club and on the other the silence could be worrying.
The clubs never been the best at keeping its supporters in the loop. The main problem seems to be that M C couldn't keep off the site , but now hes vanished. The whole thing will will end in one of two ways. We will either be hit with some kind of news that will either shake the foundations or we will wonder what all the fuss was about. On the clubs history , I smell a rat. All we can do is Waite and see.
WE have to trust the owner and hope the actions taken will result favourably

| I'm a big believer in PR and can spout about the simplest of things to try and make it look great but I do agree the website has gone quite and I can only believe its down to lack of staff, MC has openly admitted that he doesn't come on here as much and its not surprising why, it is open to all to have a pop at him directly and why should he explain his plans if they are long term.
from what I understand his goal is to get the club financially stable not win the league or cup and his main objective is to stay in super league as we would be playing in the park or worst non existent in a lower league
half way through the season and so far we seam to be just treading water, lets just see what happens with the Bradford fiasco to see what that brings.

| But treading water is better than the alternative.
I feel for you Poynton. No answer though. Just have to ride it out.

| When MC took over the reins, it was made clear that this season was about trying to survive in SL.
At the time, the fans were told that players would be sold to balance the books but, that we would be competing in SL.
Also, we were informed that the number of staff was down to the bare bones but, that the people that remained at the club were working very hard to keep the job going.
There is no doubt that there are some short comings with various aspects of the clubs administration and we (as supporters) always appear to be getting asked for more but, the reality is that unless we have more supporters, the one's that remain come under more pressure to give more.
Following the near collapse at the end of last season,I know plenty of people that have stopped coming to games or, who are only attending home games because of the endless off field problems and it has to be said that for all of the positive work done by Glover in boosting crowds (or at least announcing higher attendances), the damage done by the last regime was massive.
However, the choice is simple:
Either, continue supporting the club and hope that we can compete in SL or, find something else to do on Sunday afternoons.
Finally, I think MC does deserve our support. The guy has kept his word on his promises and appears to be doing a good job in balancing the books which, long term, is the key to survival !

| MC is busy promoting the club on social media correctly.
Wasn't he told not to come on here posting by lots of fans?
Seems he can't win!
I also worry about the club.....it's because we care & are passionate!
There's no shame in that!

| I cannot say my feelings are same as the OP, I have other things in my life but I do know why he feels that way.
All it takes is a little consideration for the supporters by, say a fortnightly newsletter from the club, updating those who care (and aren't in the know) what current issues are.
The Peter Fox business is a prime example!

| I think the opening post contains a lot of nit picking and really over eggs the pudding.
My concise and relevant summary would be "Agar out!"

| The opening post makes some valid points.
I am also a supporter of over 50 years and have never felt so 'low' as regards the future of the club.
After the 'heady days' of the 60's we at least managed to be relatively competitive throughout the 70's and 80's.
Since then we just seem to stumble along.
What really baffles me is the inability to attract investors of real substance.
As we all know the potential is there , all we need is some success.
Why cannot potential investors see the potential?
Little things do mean a lot and despite the 'cutbacks' etc it is not really very hard for someone to respond to an email.
Things like that are unforgivable.
Having said all that it is 'in my blood' and I will always be a fan.

I tend to agree with your post but regarding investment, the only slim chance we have of enticing investors is a winning team, I'd guess Cas have a lot more investment lined up with the team doing well than they had lined up in the Millward days!

| And yet within the month with wins against London and Bradford we will be safe and worry free. Lose however, prepare for meltdown on here.

Then Bradford get four points back? Back to meltdown mode.
