His kicking will be as much a loss as anything.

Big loss if does go, class player and so much better than the alternatives Lyne, Briscoe and Kindhorse. Add to that Collis with his dodgy hamstrings will only play about 10 games. Starting centres of Collis and Smith looks ok, any perm of Lyne, Briscoe and Kindhorse looks terrible.

I rate Lee Smith but at 28 he has to do what is right for his family and himself.
If he sticks around at Wake til his contract expires, is he going to get another good contract when he is 30?
He has been to Union before so knows what he has to do for what he gets paid for and it will probably extend his career longer than if he stayed in League.
Alain Tait played Union for a long while after he left League and he was no spring chicken when he went back.

Foster could be a good replacement for Smith.
Good finisher who is a very tidy goal kicker.

Bit disappointed with this. One of our best two centres, our best goal kicker and others plenty of versatility. And also by all accounts a popular member of the squad. I hope he is replaced with someone of increased quality and not just a squad filler.
