| Let's face it, the old indoor market was actually better than the new one.
It's a very poor design and isn't a pleasant place to shop.
You're right about the waste of money though.

| It was an awful design; which was never going to work, the fact they didnt consult with the market traders of old in the previous indoor & outdoor market.
The plot of land is not that big at all, how many screens could it possibly have 2???

| WMDC have now realised how they replaced what was a thriving indoor/ outdoor market with plenty of parking in very close proximity with a small expensive white elephant. Rents are far too high for a start and even when tenants plead with them to let them stay for reduced rent they would rather see the space empty. Having worked in the old meat market for several years and shopped in the outdoor market for many years I appreciate the great loss it was to the City. The new market has nowhere near the variety / quantity or character of stalls of its predecessor. Whilst the Trinity Walk is a fantastic addition to the City a market with all the old attributes is also a must.

| Despite being annoyed at the waste of money and the stubborn stance taken by the Council on the poor design and the high rents, this is an opportunity to put things right.

Will they really put things right though?
My prediction is that they will do it on the cheap, permanent market stalls all the way down the precinct.
No upkeep of a market area!
