| Hi guys and gals, any of you remember Adam Gledhill who left you for Gold Coast Titans a year ago? He's signed for Batley for 2014. Any comments on him?

Decent prospect who can only have improved whilst down under. He was in the first team squad before he left. If Trinity weren't overloaded at second row it would've been good to see him back at the club.

| From a Wakefield’s fanatics point of view I am disgusted with this news , having only seen him play and develop since he joined the invincibles I believe he is the best PROP we have produced in a long time , from what I understand he won’t be the last of our own to be signed by a couple of our ex coaches .If Batley , Dewsbury , Halifax recognise the talent we have produced what’s wrong with RFA , he seems to have a complete dislike of our own , while signing such as Reece Lynne and Jon Molly ( who’s next Jack and Luke Briscoe , Lawrence Pearce, Will Sharpe) . The comment from the Clan regarding making offers to players/,PEOPLE who then accept but are then ignored (phone e mail, text) is 100% true and is still happening so don’t blame the previous regime.(I suppose I better circle the wagons )

I hope that isn't a hint of where Wildie & Kay may be heading?

| Mate Kay has signed for Leigh 100%...they offered him a full time deal working in community etc to top his salary up. Agar would not even pay him £20k. As for Wildie the talk is he has been offered a reduced contract but due to the current situation at the club he actually sees he will get an opportunity to play next season so will sign....

| Major shame about Kay, the lad has a bag load of potential and could well come back to bite us on the backside. As for Wildie i'm glad it sounds like he is staying as I think he could do a job for us off the bench next season. But if we have offered him less then I wouldn't have blamed him for walking as well.

You cant blame Agar he has to make a squad with very limited resources, good on Kay and I wish he did stay but beggars cant be choosers.

Lost track of Adam over that last few years so can't really comment on him, i did have the pleasure of coaching him a few years back.
He played in the year above and never let anyone down, it would be unfair to say anymore other than he comes from a RL family and was a smashing lad.
Sorry i can't offer you anymore Jim. Its fair to say i'll be visiting the Mount next season to watch him play.

It's getting abit boring this line, yes we can blame Agar he chose to sign the players he did like Lynne and molloy instead of offering Cowling, Kaye and Wildie contract extensions. It can also be argued to an extent with all the players that went to Aus like Grayson, Slater and Gledhill. All of which would probably be good squad players by now. But he chose to sign Lynne and Molloy and Poore instead.

If you think they're on mega bucks then yeah it his fault - but they're not. The person you need to start blaming is the old CEO JE.
Also when these players were signed the 'financial status' wasn't out thus deals for Tuson and rumoured ones - Fakir and Addy.

Thats my take on it. How Kay performed in his stint raised his salary expectations. Had Agar offered Kay a new contract last year it would've been less than what his agent was demanding this year. He chose to offer untried youngsters from other clubs contracts instead so he is accountable for the club losing their home grown players with potential.

Agree with this. We could have offered Liam Kay £20k last April and he'd probably have taken it. We neither gave him the game time nor backed him by investing in him - hence we lose him. It is very poor management of the squad and has been a recurring theme which is now costing us badly when we really need these players. We reap what we sow....
Agar has done some good things for the club, but this, to me, is a massive failing!

Yes, with hindsight another Agar mistake, but consider the scenario that he was in the dark regards the financial state - as many of us were.
If he was promised cash to spend on more experienced players he would not need to take risks, even low cost ones.
Now the need is greater, the costs have risen and he does not have the budget to meet the demands, even if he thinks the player is worth it.

Whilst I doubt they'll be on a fortune I'd bet my last penny they are on more than the reported pittence we have offered our own promising homegrown players. And whilst he won't have the final say Agar will have conversed to the board what level of importance those young players are to the squad and how vital or not it was to keep or lose them. From the outside looking in as they depart one by one it doesn't seem that important to retain them. Paying overs like Elston & Glover did is one thing but trying to pull a fast one on our kids by offering them insulting fulltime salaries is just as bad imho. Yes the buck stops with the board but I don't believe for one second Agar was totally oblivious even if he didn't know the full picture.
And just because the financial status wasn't fully out in the public domain it will have well known within the club what the state of play was yet we still went out signing Molloy & Tautai mid-season and offering deals to the likes of Tuson & Fakir that we couldn't honour rather than offer living wages to Kay, Cowling et al. Quite honestly its been one almighty cock-up from start to finish.

Spot on.
One thing in all this is don't we have to have 7 club trained players in our top 25 man squad next season? How are we going to achieve this without just filling it with some under 19's who aren't anywhere near first team level yet?
