Perhaps the price you pay for not having the rest of the clubs grabbing your best players

Disagree - the clubs had a responsibility with that money and chose poorly IMO. Grass roots / support for the new Championship clubs etc would have been far better use - that or maintaining the U18's / U20's without the need to swamp the system with stupid dual registration players....

I think he's right to complain about that - but I do think Bradford have / are having enough support in other ways!

And so begins another season of "we've been unfairly treated by the RFL and SuperLeague and all the other clubs" bleating from Odsal.

I wish they had just been left to fend for themselves - see how much he'd have whinged then.
Nobody forced him to buy the club.

Gutted to miss first game of season for family reasons but quite pleased that it means I won't be donating any of my money to "Poor little Bradford" icon_moon.gif icon_moon.gif icon_moon.gif

This is the only downer I have regarding going to support the lads this weekend. Too old to climb over the wall and even if I could I don't think the missus would fancy following me. icon_sad.gif

I thought they had their Sky money paid in advance? That's why they didn't get it when everybody else did.
Did they withhold a further amount?

I'd agree with you if I thought for one minute that that was what he was complaining about. It's an easy way for him to have a pop about the fact that they're being punished for going into Administration.

I'd be willing to bet that he wouldn't be happy if the money had been used as you suggested, although it would be harder for him to express his displeasure.

I do agree that it should have been put to better use and the Championship/Junior Comps/Grass roots would certainly have benefitted massively. TBH it seems to be another case of gross incompetence from the RFL/SL to allow the other SL clubs to profit from it when it could have been put to better use elsewhere, but I don't suppose anybody is overly surprised by that.

Whilst it is common knowledge that Bradford are to receive reduced Sky monies, nobody has the definitive answer as to why!

Some believe its monies owed from last season, others that it’s a penalty for actually going into administration, and finally, the likes of me think it may be paying back the lease over the next two seasons.

As for the other clubs, times are hard I guess, so any free money is helpful.

If it had been the boot on the other foot and say Salford had gone that way last season instead. I doubt he would have said to the RFL "We can't possibly take money that we believe another club should have, it is unfair and immoral.'

Maybe they had the money in advance, maybe they didn't, the only people who really know are the ones holding the purse strings. I agree the money probably would have been best suited placed into the Championship or grassroots, but it is TV money so maybe the terms of any agreement don't allow for that.

I am sure the sponsorship deal of the century they have with Provident will soon offset the loss.

I would suggest the money would've been better off being held as a fighting fund for the next club to go pop.

Quote "Bradford owner Omar Khan has condemned his club's Super League rivals for pocketing the television income forfeited by the Bulls."

I wouldn't disagree but the quote makes no mention of that, only the fact that he is moaning that the other clubs have got his clubs (forfeited) money = -head.
As I understand it this was money that the clubs would have gotten anyway so it is hard to not give them it back retrospectively now, although (like you) I could have thought of better uses for it, but this in this instance is not feasible.

From Sporting Life...

[i"It doesn't make sense to me. If that money had gone to make the game bigger it wouldn't have bothered me.

"The conclusion I've come to is 'you take care of yourself'. We're just a club on its own. Every club is on its own but it shouldn't be. They should be working together to grow game.

"If it was up to me I'd made decisions for the whole of the game. It's a game that should grow - it should have grown a long time ago. Rugby league should be buzzing and becoming a massive game but at the moment it's declining."[/i

They've been looked after far more than any other club would have been, the team was untouched, and carried on as normal unlike Wakey. They got away lightly in my eyes, iconic club and ground my booty.Got no time for them at all.As for the big mouth owner, less said the better,or banned.
