| Always rated Mathers attacking wise, it's when he's under pressure at the back he seems to come up short, best attacking fullback we have had in a while though. I guess he wanted to payback the Castleford faithful for treating him so well while he was there.

"Quote" But perhaps most impressive is another bumper Wildcats home crowd – 9,237 for a Saturday TV game in the cold and wet is a fine effort from one of Super League’s most progressive clubs "Gareth Walker the Mirror"

| If he was staying at Cas he would not have reacted that way. And IMO the way he reacted after his 2nd seemed to be that he is defo staying at Wakey.

| Defensively he is terrible but liked his passion today. Maybe he might be better off at centre

| Centre is the hardest position to play defensively so I really don't get what you're trying to say here!

| Well he'd have probably a 2nd rower and winger next to him plus a full back behind him. He's poor at one on ones and at the high ball so with players round him think he'd be ok. Attacking wise think he's very good. just an opinion

| Part of Wire's resurgence was down to Mathers organisation of the defence, his individual defence isn't as bad as people make out eg 2010 CC final, Mathers defence completely nullified Leeds and was unlucky to not pick up Lance Todd that day.
Mathers is a cracking player but he's a confidence player and when it's shot or he's a little under pressure his form suffers for it.
You make a defensive error as a hooker, and you'll probably have a prop or a second row tidy it up, if they then miss you have your fullback. Fullback as we all know is all or nothing, you're a hero or a zero.
He's a great bloke to have in camp, top pro.

| Brilliant today. Always talking to his teamates driving them on. He was stood unde the sticks waiting for the return kick egging everyone on to be ruthless.I think we should all send big love over the common to them for paying him to play for us.

I said something similar a few weeks ago after he'd had a 'mare and was getting a lot of stick on here.
Overall, Mathers has been a great signing for us and despite a few wobbles, has added some much-needed experience and professionalism; from what I hear, he's become a real club man and can't do enough in terms of helping the other players.
If he's playing for a contract, he did himself no harm at all today - cracking performance.
