| Which school in Wakefield has produced the most and best RL players? I'm going for Outwood grange I know it's the biggest school in wakey but it's a conveyer belt for pro RL player. Thornes house and eastmoor has produced it's fair share over the years as did becketts. Which school did Neil fox and his brothers go to?

| I think St Thomas a Becketts is out in front, Outwood (the sixth largest school in the UK) only started concentrating on Rugby League about ten years ago.
Off the top of my head STABs:
David Ward
Paul McDermott
Paul Kelly
Andy Kelly
Neil Kelly
Richard Kelly
Brian McDermott
Kieran Allen
Nick Fozzard
That's certainly not a finite list.
Incidentally, has any other school produced so many top flight coaches/international coaches.

I didn't say they didn't play RL, only that their focus was on football until about ten years ago when it switched to RL.

| Whilst I was at outwood it was a case of rugby players that attended the school rather than the school producing players. It's about 18 years since I was there but the games teacher didn't care about RL and we never played it in PE. It was local amateur clubs that produced the players. If anything it was St michaels middle (at the time) and the games teacher mr smith there that got me actually playing RL

| Qegs is arguably the school that has had the most influence on the club. The governors of Qegs gifted land at Belle Vue that was owned by the school in 1870 along with the Minister and Churchwardens of the Parish of Sandal Magna who also gifted land. This land was given to the club and has been our home ever since. Qegs has produced more professional RL players than any other Independent School. Ronnie Rylance, David Garthwaite and Geoff Clarkson are three top players that graced the Red White and Blue to name a few. The excellent relationship between School and Club continues with Trinity`s first team and junior squads training at the School. Also for those of you who enjoy watching under 18`s three of Qegs 1st XV players who also represent Yorkshire RU under 18`s are in Trinity`s under 18`s squad for next season. Long may the excellent relationship continue

| When I was at Outwood 20 years ago we always had RL teams in every year mr smith was the games teacher big trinity fan still see him at belle vue. I remember the kids kicking off 10 years ago as they were made to play union aswell but they got to a final at twickenham in there first season playing RU that how easy that sport is. OGS is still playing RL and still producing the players they played an Aussie school this year

So a lad who played for our colts/reserves wasn't a rugby player then?

| Ive been working at Outwood Grange for the last six months and have got to know Mr Barker very well, those who attended OGA probably remember him as he's been a PE teacher there for 33 years.
We've had a couple of conversations about how sport has changed over the last 30+ years and it is he who has told me how Rugby League was never a priority at the school, that it was always soccer until the last ten years or so.
With the opening of a new £3M sports hall to add to the already very good amenities and the promise of more new facilities in the near future the school is going to produce some very good sportsmen and women for decades to come.

| Snapethorpe Secondary produced many players when in existence.
My father taught there and along with ex Ref and teacher Gwyn Davies brought through many players such as Harold Poynton and Ian Brooke. If I remember correctly.
The Fox brothers went to Sharlston School.
I think it was a through school to the age of 15 then.
Sharlston Junior school went on to introduce many lads to the game, such as ex pro Martyn Pearson and present amateur with Sharlston Rovers Gareth Davies.

| Lol I remember Mr Barker, wasn't a fan of his tbh.
I was at OGS 20 years ago and RL wasn't a priority at all. We played a few matches managed by a History teacher called mr hannon (from down south btw) and don't remember ever training. We had a few lads that knew how to play but the players certainly weren't produced by the school

| quite a lot of the outwood lads could be traced back to newton hill junior school, but more accurately stanley rangers. schools don't generally produce kids, but they do allow them to get more coaching/training/game time alongside their club activities.
