| Darlington moved to a new state of art super stadium which is better than anything in superleague other than the KC.
Unfortunately the team is going down and down and the 27000 seater stadium only has about 1500 supporters in on match days. Darlington FC can't afford the upkeep on the ground, which they don't own and the latest proposal is to demolish this 6 year old stadium and move to a ground more suited to their requirements - ie their old ground.
It now looks as though that ground's owners, Darlington Cricket Club are looking to clear the site of teh old football ground so Darlington FC could go out of existence and nobody would probably notice.
If we want to play in a superb ground next season, this one is only an hour's drive from Wakefield and we could claim expansionist rights.
This is a salutory lesson to any club chasing a new ground at the expense of everything else.

We could do that far nearer to home if we really wanted to

The story there may be more to do with the former chairman/owner at Darlo and how they've ended up in this mess. Odd how that works.

| It would look good at Belle Vue but we've got Newmarket which hopefully will be the real deal. The problem we have is that Newmarket is out of our control until we get a decision probably early next year but Mr Glover has said he was working had on delivering newmarket

| Of course glover will be.
The financial implications for our/his club will be huge in a positive way.
Attendences will undoubtably rise through both away fans and home fans. And the marketing, sponsor opportunities will become more sought after I would expect. Which businessman wouldn't work hard to achieve nm.

I've held back a bit on this issue but you have given me the opening.
He may of said this but I',m informed he isn't acting on it.
He has not yet met with Mr Box - why I don't know.
He has not met with Yorkcourt.
He has not met with the planning department despite an invite.
He ended all negotiations with Barnsley over Oakwell.
He is yet to meet with SWAG, which is understandable if he has nothing to report.
I got this info from a few sources 3-4 weeks ago so things may have changed. I also accept that I can't prove it and don't claim it to be gospel (apart from the planning office bit) I'm just passing it on. I also accept that he may be doing a deal in a very hush hush way, I don't know. I also accept that he may see SWAG as a Ted organisation (it isn't) and I kind of understand that.
However as of 3-4 weeks ago there were a number of very important people who certainly didn't think he was working hard to deliver NM - quiet the opposite.
I could have duff info, certainly out of date and there may well be mitigating circumstances. However I wouldn't assume AG has the same agenda regarding NM as Ted, he may have a completely different idea as to where the club is going. Just like Ted, he owns the club and can do as he wishes and he will regardless of what we say.

Maybe he has a better option than Newmarket and something that can be delivered in a shorter timescale. One thing is for sure he doesn't have much time and even less when you consider how long it has taken us to get to this point!

Indeed and I hope you are right, which is why I have not actually criticised him. I had an inside track with the old regime where NM was concerned though clearly not with anything else. I have no such thing with AG and I'm ok with that. As I say it's his money and his club and he will do what he thinks is best.
All I'm saying is that we shouldn't assume his intentions are the same as what went before. Teds over riding aim was to stay in SL at all costs, and eventually it cost him everything. AG may not share that desire - at least short term - which may not be a bad thing if he gets it right.
Truth is Ted gambled and lost, by the precarious nature of our club AG will have to gamble also at some point. Lets hope he is lucky at card.

I see you've now edited your original post where you sounded far too pleased that the meeting didn't go well, and didn't infer it wasn't AG's & Elston's fault. You and your "big hitters" get a shoddy service from west Yorkshire windows as you've sure enough got a grudge against this man.
