| So, we are being tipped by virtually everybody to be the club which loses its SL status.
Bearing in mind the criteria are we really that far behind other clubs at this moment in time ?
We will tick the boxes in most of the categories - obviously not the financial box but surely its not as cut and dry as some are thinking.
With Oakwell virtually a done deal for next year and hopefully NM ready for part of the 2013 season, financial problems now being addressed and should be in order sooner rather than later, teams performing well at all levels and have done fora number of years and the continued fantastic work being carried out by Davide and Co. surely we must have some hope to hold onto ?
I know its all about opinions and no doubt will get shot down in flames for this post but I really feel that its certainly NOT a one horse race at this moment in time.
KEEP THE FAITH

| You're in EXACTLY the same situation as Widnes were three year ago - only without a stadium. I'd say you're doomed to join us plebs below stairs. If not Wakey, then who?
The only other club nearest to the danger zone are The Crusaders - i'm talking here about the financial aspect of your recent histories. Will the RFL kick them out? Not a chance. Salford & Castleford are the next closest and what would they say if chosen above Wakey for the boot? I just can't see any alternative but Wakefield. The RFL should NOT have guaranteed a Championship club promotion. It's created more headaches than it's worth. They won't make that mistake again.

| It is not cut and dried yet that we won't get a franchise, more clubs could yet be i bad financial situations should Leeds loosed the image right test case.

| A lot will depend on how much Cas can convince the RFL that they are not just posturing. If the RFL think that Cas won't actually complete the stadium, and will do nothing more than obtain planning permission to make it look good, then we might get the nod. I predict some diggers will move on site to shift some soil in around May. I expect the diggers to move off site again towards the end of July.

| You must find it frustrating and somewhat ill timed to say the least, your club entering administration. If Wakefield had somehow managed to keep their heads above water and allowed Crusaders to apply for a licence as the only club to have been in recent administration, that would have made things interesting.Very interesting.

Who indeed?
I think you're right. It'll take the miracle of miracles to change this one... but we live in hope.

Bearing in mind they changed the rules so that it wouldn't count against the Crusaders, I don't think it will make a jot of difference.

No they should just have accepted the 14 best applications.

| If we (somehow) don't get the boot this time around then we're nailed on for the boot in 3 years time. Messrs Wood & Lewis are hellbent on expanding to games to areas of the country that don't really have an appetite for the game - best demonstrated by there being more Wakefield fans in the Millenium Stadium on Sunday than there were Crusaders fans!!!!
Widnes are virtual certainties given the general perception about how they missed out last time and by the time the 2015-17 franchises are decided Toulouse will be the RFL's next "project" for SL. After that it will be somewhere like Edinburgh, Nottingham, Birmingham or Bristol (or any other location that doesn't have a significant RL presence at the moment).
If Parkin withdrew because the RFL wouldn't guarantee a franchise in July I can't blame him for pulling out, but I applaud him for trying.

I find myself thinking, what if another club went bust or neither Cas or Salford built stadiums.
And then i remember that its just not right to think like that. Is this what the games coming to, no longer concerned what happens on the pitch.
Don't like myself very much tbh.

No matter what happens at least you know wakey as a club will survive now, which a couple of weeks ago was far from certain, thats the most important thing.
If things keep going downhill then even thats in doubt, sadly.
I didnt type the last bit, why is it there?

Unfortunatly Al you have hit the nail on the head there, this game of ours has nothing to do with what happens on the pitch anymore with respect to how you are looked upon by the powers that be.
