| We have been told that the club has a Plan B . Why is Plan B being kept secret?Proper contingency planning would have Plan B advanced enough to be rolled out immediately so that players shareholders supporters and Super League know what the club intends to do both in terms of this just being a 12 month delay and in terms of the public enquiry rejecting Newmarket altogether.
As someone who will be celebrating my 50th season at Belle Vue in 2011, having seen the team when it was great and when it was very ordinary, the most important thing to me is that there continues to be a Wakefield Trinity , playing professional rugby league IN WAKEFIELD, with a team who are proud of wearing the shirt and hopefully with at least a sprinkling of locally born players that youngsters can aspire to emulate.
I know many on this forum want Super league at all costs , I hope that Plan B gives us a chance of staying in Super league but lets have a plan B that ensures the continuation of Wakefield Trinity, Superleague in its present form will not last for ever . One day Murdoch may take his money and go elsewhere in search of ratings but Rugby League will survive , lets make sure there will be a Wakefield Trinity to be part of whatever the future holds.

| The obvious plan B appears to be playing at Oakwell for while but i guess we are just going to have to wait and see until there is an official announcement.

Im not totaly convinced there is a plan B, i think we put all our eggs in the Newmarket basket and the Goverment wanted a Omelette, I think Plan B will be created this morning at the metting at BV, 1 thing for sure is 2011 will be our last season at BV, looks like Ted and the board may be gambling on a move to South Yorkshire to secure our SL future ?, Not sure how financially viable that would be, we struggle to keep our heads above water and attract new fans when we have a ground 2 miles from the City centre, how many new fans would make the 25-30 mile round trip to Oakwell ? and how much rent would it cost for a Championship ground ?. TBH i was not suprised by this decision reading the reports, the Country is in sh*t state, central goverment has told local goverment to cut front line services and jobs, and WMDC is losing 18% funding over 2 years, Wakefield have been there own worst ememy's in this ongoing saga, we were warned 3 years ago that if we did not occupy a state of the art ground by the next franchise handouts we were going to struggle to obtain one and that will happen believe me, Unfortunatly Wakefield has been and still is a Family Club for too long and is not been run as a business, that's why we have not moved forward and we have to go to "PLAN B", i feel sorry for the hard working loyal fans who will see the demise of a Sporting icon because of poor managment and financial decisions.........

| At this moment in time Plan B is all that matters. It has to be credible enough to fit in with our next franchise presentation. If as believed it is Barnsley, then I think things will turn out just fine. As long as we have a good business plan for expanding our product into a new area that looks feasible to the RFL, then I just can't see us been turned down. If we have a cast iron agreement to play at Barnsley for next 3 years ( not that we should need 3 years) we will have a far superior franchise application than Cas. We have always had a small supporter base in Barnsley, a presence in the town will enable us to build on that. A lot of our supporter base in Wakefield comes from the south, so a trip to Oakwell will be no different time wise than a trip to Newmarket. Of course we will lose some support moving to Barnsley but this could be off set by attracting support in the town.
I still believe Newmarket is a goer but it obviously won't be with the timescales necessary for the franchise, this is our only option, and if you ask me a pretty decent one.

| I was under the impression that Plan B was initially enquired about earlier this year, and had been run by the RFL who ok'd it. Of course discussions would have to have taken place since to form an agreement, but the club knew that even if things had gone their way they would not be playing out of NM until June 2012 so i'm sure the Plan B is very real as it would've been required anyway regardless of the SOS decision. I would imagine the length of the tenure will be up for debate now though.

That was my biggest worry that a plan B didn't exsist and it was all one big gamble by Ted. The wording of yesterdays statement was a little worrying. Instead of just winging about the decision we should of come out fighting putting some positive spin on things regarding plan B. If we haven't done no real planning on Oakwell then we do have an uphill struggle. I'm waiting to see what the club have to say about this very vital next step before passing judgement.

Thats what I always thought. We have to stay positive about this. I'm sure we could maintain our current support level if we move to Barnsley. It's case of if it's feasible from a business point of view. This may only be for a year anyway.

I think you’re on the right course.
Plan B, now has to be plan A. The staff at WTRLFC should be putting all their energy into a viable plan (hopefully Oakwell)
The ground ticks all the Red Hall boxes, also, unless things have changed (probably have ) isn’t the Stadia criteria based on what you have, going to print. I remember Leigh’s application been based on Hilton Park, when their new ground was practically finished!
The club will have to cut their cloth to suit, no doubt, it’s going to cost a few bob to play at Barnsley, but, this will have to offset with no costs for B.V & the squad would have to be heavily pruned. So, we won’t win the G.F or the C.C, but, there’s nothing new there!
Finally, we could clutch at straws, and hope either Quins or Celtic goes under, or maybe win the G.F this year, now that would be an amusing scenario.
My biggest fear is that, based on past financial miss-management, the club doesn’t have anybody with enough business acumen to put such a plan in place .

| As people have already said, I don't think the current BOD is up to the task of navigating us through the difficult process of trying to make a credible business plan and franchise application based on plan B.
I genuinely think that there may have been some apathy on the BOD's part in thinking that NM would not get called in, particularly with Rodney Walker involved as he doesn't normally fail when he gets involved in projects of this nature.
The depressing fact is that I don't see anybody coming along now to inject some much needed capital and business acumen into the club.
Just hope the players are out for putting themselves in the shop window and we have a final SL season to be proud off.
