| Surely any further assistance would see the RFL overstretched in that particular department.
You would like to think that this will change things massively for both Cas and wakey, however that remains to be seen and I wont be holding my breath.

| I personally believe that they should go. However i am almost certain that the RFL will help them out and keep them in business.
If it was us or cas in the same sort of troubble i am positive we would get no help from the RFL and it just isn't fair the rugby isn't a level playingfield because of the geographical location of a club.

| Surely if the RFL step in to save Quins then the rest of the super league should tell the RFL that no existing super league club can be thrown out for any reason.

It would seem to be utterly ridiculous to be seen to be propping one club up yet condemning another - and imo would be challenged in the courts should it happen. Quite a mess - and it gives me no pleasure at all to say that.

| as I have put on another thread it would be sad to allow quins to go,
I don't have a solution to their problem but it would be a backwards step for the game in general, if they do close it won't help us anyway we have our own fight to sort out

| The RFL's problem is the one where they have announced that there 1=can be only 14 teams and yet have guaranteed a Championship side (Widnes as everyone knows) a place as well. It will take a proper Houdini act for them to get out of this and still look 'reasonable' - and anyone in business will attend to just how important that word is!

Interesting to see how they justify it if they go down that road.

| I don't think that Quins should be expected to fund the development in the south. If that is the only cost they ask for help with, then fine. If it goes further, and they prop up a financially unstable club, then the franchise system is a total joke, because they would have let us and Cas go to the wall.

Yes, I have mentioned on here before that if this situation arises the RFL would be standing on very thin ice and leaving themselves open to a legal challenge on restriction of trade.

It wouldn't be Restraint of Trade, because all the parties have agreed to be bound by the decision of the independant panel. It would be judicial review on the basis that the panel had "fettered its discretion", in that the outcome was pre-determined. The new terms that were posted on here the other week seemed very loose, and seemed to allow the panel just to do what it wanted.

Many people seem to be of the opinion that this is nothing new for the RFL. I suspect they stepped in financially to keep celtic a going concern and quite a few people think they paid the wages of Noble, sharp and Harris.

| here here, a shame but surely we can not go down that line again, but they did it with Wales, moved to other side of country despite franchise rules stating clubs should not be moved more than 10 miles and they put in an RFL advisor in the shape of Steve Ferres, also I heard they are off to Milton Keynes, RL hot bed!

| I believe it will be a case of [i"expansion at any cost". [/i
The RFL will do there utmost for both Harlequins & Crusaders because then we will be seen as a national game.
It will also help Sky sell there wares in the south and that will also keep the RFL happy.
We heartland clubs are expendable in todays world of TV & media rights.
