5 Quota players (Australians and New Zealanders without EU passports)
Maximum of 6 non-federation trained players (players who haven’t come through a British Rugby League academy with EU passports and Kolpacks) inclusive of the 5 quota players.
So in theory, disregarding the added complication of exemptions, you could have five quota players and one non-fed, or 3 quota players on 3 non-fed.

| And what do we have exactly in regards to non-fed trained and quota players? Is anyone exempt (like Hendo)?

| In the current rfl rules it states that from 2008 on you are entitled to a maximum of 5 overseas players - ie players that do not hold a eu passport eg corky, ben jeffries, james stosic dont count so it should be easy
but then the superleague rules state maximum of 8 non federation trained players - neither refer to kolpack any more
so god knows but an interesting fact from the rfl rules
but then you read "The RFL will not at any time accept a registration application for an "overseas Player",
nor register the Player until it has received a copy of the Player's work permit or
satisfactory evidence that such a permit is not necessary in which case the Club must" and then you think what happened in celtics case!!!
Seems like the rfl do not know there own rukle book

Millard - Quota
Tronc - Quota
Jeffries - Quota
Morrison - Quota
Stosic - Non Fed
Latu - Non Fed
Blanch - ?
Obst - ?
JD - Exempt
Hendo - Exempt
Korki - Exempt
Obviously I have something wrong here because that's too many. Maybe someone else can help out.

That’s the only way it could possibly work. Thought Latu's deal was up this time round but people seem to think he's contracted for next season.

| Obst doesn't count because he's been in the country 5+ years and was also present in the country prior to the rule changes in 2006/7.

That would make Jeffries off quota too

Really, I always thought he was completely Australian, no EU passport. Unless he’s gone for British Citizenship as he’s been over here fore so long.

Jeffries is not off quota as far as I know because Ted said that he used up our final quota place, so we couldn't offer Martin anything.
It's all very confusing!

I thought the exemptions only applied to Non-Quota players eg, Korki and JD because they're Greek and Hendo as he was born over here.

| It's just another case of the RFL over-complicating what should be a very simple thing.
RFL) Were you born in this country and/or do you hold a valid British passport ?
Player) No
Then you count as foreign.
It shouldn't be so difficult.

Nope: McGoldrick can apply for Cas to come off-quota in the 2011 season due to being in the UK for five years, apparently.
Think it doesn't apply to Jeffries because he's moved club which means his status as an overseas player returns.

| If Blanch as classed as Irish surely Morrison will be classed as Welsh, he qualifies for Wales through his Welsh grandfather. Does the additional Quota place for `non-heartland` Clubs - Quins, Celtic & Catalans still apply, (more than 1 for Celtic at the moment).
Unbelievably convoluted, how do the RFL check each player`s status? So many players have dual nationality, although Australian by birth they may be qualified for other Nations, EU or non-EU, Millard being a Fijian International for example. I don`t think the RFL would fancy a challenge in court somehow.
