| Anyone else hear it?
Some interesting comments
- he accepts that 14 clubs in top division too many from a finance and player quality perspective and that the new proposals will mean there is more to play for all season
- club a bit put out that having shelled out on ground improvements the rfl have made stadia less significant and they have told the rfl as much
- club like probably half of sl not presently sustainable without funds being provided by AG and the board. Have a model to become sustainable but it will get harder before it gets better
- debt from administration still umbilical to the club have had various court cases over last few years etc..which makes things more difficult
- club has put 200k into youth development (presume this is club 1873 money plus some from elsewhere).
- Mariano told he needed to do more to prove he was worth the salary he was looking for, but Cas put a short deadline on their deal which was for more than the initial offer on the table from us, so he took the Cas deal
- appreciates we are light in cover in the halves
- looking to extend deals of coaching staff. Dean collis said he would stay for as long as agar was here etc...
There may have been some other stuff but that was the gist

How much did AG shell out of his own money for that? Was it half a million for the shedding? He won't see a return on that, or at least not one that will come anywhere near to covering his costs. Not to mention the historical debts that were paid off.
Like half the league, the club's not sustainable on current income.
And still people moan.

| If we are not sustainable without AG's input, why at the start of the season did he claim we were pretty much now breaking even?
Why if we are a new company would we have court cases from the previous regime effecting us? They would have died with the old company surely?
If he admits we are so short of cover in the halves, why did they release Kyle Wood?

Because he wanted a better offer than we thought he was worth and received a better offer elsewhere?

Think he was talking about next season. He was specifically asked about wood and said that they wanted to give wildie an opportunity as he wanted to be here and that injuries are part and parcel of the game and wood could get injured this week. Have people who can cover the position in the squad for now

From next season yes. But it doen't explain letting him leave 'on loan' for the rest of the season when we are short now.

Have to wonder why Agar didn't play Wildie in the halves on monday then.

At the time they didn't know Sykes was gonna be out for 6 weeks plus see previous comments about giving wildie a chance at replacement hooker

We may be, in terms of money spent throughout the actual season on players, staff, ground rent, etc. We may, however, have other debts to service with different strings attached.

Did the RFL not lend us money to play players'/staff wages at the time? If so, there may have been others with an equal claim.
Quote: Theboyem "If he admits we are so short of cover in the halves, why did they release Kyle Wood?'"
Because he isn't that good that he would make much of a difference either way?

All very noble but injuries are common place and leaving us with a lack of cover might just cost us a top 8 place. Lets hope not.

I wasn't talking about the loan. I was under the impression you just meant his impending transfer. It would be right to elt him go at the end of the season in my opinion. I don't know why Agar has let him go at this moment.

The CCJ's and court cases are all against spirit of 1873, not Wakefield Trinity RLFC. Surely then they have to have been accrued since then?

True to some extent although he'd be a better bet that Danny Washbrook at 6!
Lets hope all is in order and we ride it out and progress. I do though have a horrible feeling of history repeating at present.

Can't quote you properly, 'cos you've embedded some of your comments in the previous quote, however:
Not breaking even: We may be close to covering operating costs, but saddled with other debt, whatever that may be.
Historical debt: The CCJs, as far as I recall, are related to bills that we don't believe we should have to pay, or at least not the amount billed, because the services have not been delivered as expected. This has been done a zillion times, and I don't know the answers. All I know is that JE explained the matter to the ST at the time, and it seemed to make sense to them, so who am I to question that?
Wood: It's all about opinions. Maybe the coach had no choice, because we needed the extra money; maybe he thought we could loan him off because it would make little difference and save us some cash into the bargain. From what I've seen of him as a player, I don't mind him at all, but I doubt even he would see himself as the difference between us making the playoffs and not.
