just read the terry newton story in news of world very sad . i no he shouldnt have used the drug he thought it was gonna make im a better player but of course it hasnt . drugs dont work in rugby or real life anybody who takes them knows the troubles they cause. good look to terry was a great player and lets hope he tries to play rugby again when his ban his up .

As a person, I feel sorry for the guy. He made a mistake, and who hasn't done something stupid in their life? However, I am really glad he was caught, as it has stopped other players thinking they had a quick cheat.

The RFL want him to name names, but unless they are still taking them, or they can re-examine old samples, there probably isn't much point. He should name his suppliers though, particularly the other party in the M62 meeting.

He has plummeted in my estimation through this publication. If he wants to tell the story, tell the full story, otherwise shut yer gob yer festering £$%!

He has one outlook in this - himself, he has shown no interest in the protection of others, otherwise why give clues as to their identities, and he has shown no interest in assisting in cleaning up our sport - therefore he remains as guilty today as the day he was caught.

If you are really 'ashamed' of this action, come clean and the right thing for once - whatever the outcome, we, as a sport, can overcome it.

I cant feel sorry for a pathetic weak cheat. Of course most people have done stupid things in their lives but this is calculated cheating. What about the clean player that doesnt get an opportunity in SL because he plays it straight?

The only thing that keeps me feeling a tiny bit sympathetic towards him is that there are others on this who didn't have their names passed to the testers - why his name was is the mystery. I hope Newton tells the RFL everything he knows and others suffer the same punishment for the same crime.

It was a strange case and the first of its kind. They were acting on intelligence.
I think they knew of people who were taking this, safe in the knowledge that it was almost impossible to detect.

TN was perhaps chosen as a high profile player (with a lower profile club ) to act as a deterrent to others.

Don't think there is any benefit of naming other players as proof will be difficult or impossible and could have an unfair and devastating effect on the sport as a whole. It is the supply chain that needs to be stopped.

This should act as a huge warning to all those sportsmen/women who have taken HGH and there would be much less sympathy for anyone else who got caught.
