| Brilliant that Catalans have signed Greg Bird, a truly superb, gifted player, fantastic news for SL. I remember when there were players around who I would pay to watch, when Wakey have not had a game on a Sunday I have paid in to watch Jonathon Davies - not Widnes but Jonathon Davies, others I have paid specifically to watch include Elery Handey, Kurt Sorenson, Andy Gregory. The last was Sam Tompkins when he burst onto the scene, I remember going to Odsal just to see him play. I cant think of a player from any SL club this season who I can say the same for. The best examples maybe were Trinity players, Wally Lewis put thousands on the gate, Steve Ela was another that fans from other clubs came to watch, Bill Ashurst certainly was in that category.
Greg Bird is one of those special players, an absolute joy to watch. So well done Catalans I will make sure I get to some of your away games when Trinity are not player just to see one of the modern greats play the game.

| Great player no doubt about it but a 5 year deal for somebody who is 32 is a bit of a risk.

| Brilliant for SL. Don't think the 3 years he'll play are a risk at all.

| Greg Bird is a brilliantly gifted player, but he has a grubby side and plays very much on the edge of what is acceptable; great to watch, but there's always a possibility that he'll spend time on the sidelines.

| Excited to see this guy play.
Here's to hoping we get Catalan (A) in the summer months again!
I remember watching Wally Lewis for us against the Saints, and what a masterclass that was. Probably the best no7 I've ever had the pleasure of watching. If my memory serves me right, I believe he got a hat-trick that day.

He was a number 6, Scott his brother was 7 or 4.

| I agree with you Belly. Not many around these days but I often used to go to 'other' games to see Davies or Offiah or Boyd at Warrington and Ella and Dowling at Wigan. Lots in those days.
Of course you can watch more readily on Sky or Premier these days.
Good for Catalan and SL.

Shouldn't you be getting excited about Sam Williams rather than a getting on a but Bird?
Can't see the point of this post on the Trinity forum.

| And yet other people on the forum want to discuss it.
If it's pointless it will just drift to the bottom.

OK put it another way, when someone on a Trinity forum calls a thread "Top signing" do you not in your infinite wisdom find that a touch misleading.
I can't be alone in thinking it was a top signing for us not some French team most of us have little interest in.
Clearly it's just me who thinks this is a Trinity forum for and about said club rather than an insiight into another one of Belly's the grass is always greaner at every other club wet dream?
Silly me.

Exactly and that's the reason they have got rid of Dave Taylor, so what do they do sign a similar sort of player...French eh?
