Theres a meeting tonight at Hemel to discuss where this game will take place.
They would like to keep it there and will be discussing the logistics of it.

I would expect an announcement tomorrow.

Given that their ground holds 2000, I would hope that it's held there. I'm not a fan of clubs switching games for the sake if it, either in RL or soccer, and their ground is either capable of hosting 2000 people or it isn't. Given that we took around 400 to Wigan, then it should be held at Hemel.

Shame as I doubt the crowd at BV will be much more than 2k.

I agree.
If the game were held down there, they could just about have a sell out, which has to be beneficial to them as a new club trying to get noticed.
Ok, there may be a larger crowd at BV but, we aint gonna get 6000-7000 for this fixture, more like 3500-4000 tops
and Hemel lose all the advantage, plus miss out on excellent PR locally.

It's not just that, it's that they're (seemingly) effectively forfeiting a cup occasion for their own support base in Hemel. A chance to stand up to a bigger side on their own pitch and give it a shot. How many youngsters will be inspired by Hemel going on the road, getting beaten and the club getting a small amount of cash compared to the occasion they could create at their own home? I think it's a real shame for them, and it devalues the cup.

I agree with all the above.

Such a shame and can't see them making that much from a trip to BV.

missing a trick in my view if they do come to Wakey. Stay at home and put a good day together. Dont think it will be all ticket and if they can get local interest they could end up with a good home crowd and hope Wakey take 500 or so. I think Wakey might take more and add to the gate. If its tickets on the day they might have a bumper day out of it with no travel exp.

I'd like the RFL to refuse to allow the move. If their ground holds 2000-2500 then let them get on with it. They are the model expansion club as thu have their own premises and have built themselves up from scratch, they'll lose an awful lot I respect and kudos if they attempt a switch.

They'll also not get much brass out of Wakefield either, I'd predict a very low crowd (sub 2k) if the price is £20+ and given hat we're not flush with cash I'd expect our expenses to be * cough * considerable.

I've just mailed them. It's obvious from this thread and the earlier one that Hemel are held in good regard by many Wakey fans who have played or visited there before, and want to go and support and celebrate their rise in to the pro ranks.

Unfortunately I think you are overestimating the quality of the ground. At present there is a stand which holds about 300. I am not sure whether the roof has been put on it as yet as this was delayed by the awful winter weather. There is a fence round the pitch and if you are not in the stand you would be standing at that. There is no terracing.

It will be a real shame if the tie is switched but I think it would be difficult for Hemel to rent another ground at short notice suitable for the tie without it costing an arm and a leg.

Unfortunately the truth is that the tie has probably come too early in their life as a semi-pro club

I expect this is about trying to get a bumper payday through shared gate receipts although as many have suggested, I think they might be disappointed.

I'll be there, but I can't see many floaters making the effort.

No I think this is about not having a ground that is up to entertaining a super league club and its fans at the moment and not being able to find a suitable alternative at short notice
