Hendo has been one of my favourite players over the 6-7 years he's been here.
He has never been the fastest, or most skillful, or the strongest, but he has put more effort in than anyone else and has played above his supposed skill level consistently.
When hard work needed to be done, whether in defence or attack he was the one to do it.

He leaves with my respect and I hope he either enjoys his retirement or gets a good gig somewhere else where he can find a good level for himself. Wouldn't be surprised if JD picked him up.

Never going to set the world alight with dazzling skills, but if every player next season gives the same level of effort and commitment as Hendo, we'll win the cup, league leaders shield and grand final.

Fans' attitudes to players like Hendo show the honesty of Wakey fans, because I think all we want is for players to put in the effort. We will forgive lack of skill, but not lack of effort, which I think says a lot about the fans, because it shows respect for people like Hendo who would be criticised at other clubs for his lack of flair. The message to players is that you get back what you give. Jeffries is twice the player of Hendo in skills, but Hendo gives better value.

As for Hendo, I thought he got better with age.

Perhaps there's a little room to say 'Thanks Hendo for giving 100% in every game you played!'
