We have formed a new group called 'Residents FOR Newmarket'. This is a growing group of local residents who SUPPORT the proposed Newmarket development and primarily not just because it provides Wakefield Trinity with a new stadium, but because of the large number of jobs that the site will provide and the community sports and educational facilities that form part of, and will be commercial supported and funded by the wider development.
One of our first initiatives has been to create a 'Statement of Support' that we are asking people to consider signing and returning to us, so we can pass these on to the planning inspectorate, on-mass, to clearly show that a small group of objectors do not speak on behalf of ALL local residents as they are trying to claim! In fact we feel and hope to demonstrate that the support for the development, both within the local area and the district as a whole, is far greater than than the primarily NIMBY led objections.
We feel we need to tell people some of the REAL FACTS about the development, not half-truths and in some cases lies that this small group of objectors have spread to solicit wider support to their own cause, stopping this development just because they do not want it near them! We also want people to understand what the local area and district could lose out if this application fails! We want people to be aware that the Newmarket Colliery site, that forms 65% of the distribution and storage units development, looks highly likely to be re-designated as an employment zone (for distribution & storage units) by the latest March 2012 anyway! This means that it is highly likely units will be built on some of the site within the very near future (and possibly even more units longer term) regardless of this application and will probably mean no community sport facilities and no stadium! The residents will probably be worse off as well, as a smaller initial development likely to be unable to fund a new road and new signal junction on Aberford Road via section 106 agreements, like this development can.
While this initiative has been devised by 'Residents FOR Newmarket' and we are targeting local residents within a three mile radius of the site, it is one we are asking all people within the wider Wakefield District and South Leeds area to participate in and complete Statements of Support if they support the development. The Statement is clear and self explanatory so they and the planning inspectorate knows what they are supporting.
As such please feel free to download the following 'Did You Know' document and complete a 'Statement of Support' and return it to us to pass on, on your behalf. The reason we are asking people to return them to us, rather than post them on direct, is simply so we can collate them and in particular count the number of 'local' replies. We also want you to freely distribute these documents and encourage anyone who supports the development to complete one and remember (as the objectors have been keen to state) everyone in your house can complete one, including Children!

We are wanting to send these to planning inspectorate as soon as we can, so we have tight deadline of Wednesday 19th January for completed forms.
We are currently setting up 'collection points' for completed forms and currently we have the following places, where completed forms can be left (I will add new venues here as we know them).
Global Hour Pharmacy, Leeds Road, Outwood.
Wildcats Belle Vue Club Shop
Wildcats City Centre Store
WAKEFIELD BATHROOMS (1 QUEEN STREET, OSSETT, WF5 8AW)
KEV'S Chip Shop, Lake Lock Road, Stanley (next to the Wheatsheaf pub)
If you can arrange any other 'collection points' please let me know below and we will add them to the list above.
Finally 'Residents FOR Newmarket' will be holding a public meeting at Stanley Rangers on Tuesday 11th January for local residents, please see this thread rlhttps://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?f for more details.

| FOR CLARITY
I have just had a very nice chat with a life-long Wakefield supporter and he had some concerns about the newly formed 'Residents FOR Newmarket' action group and the Statements of Support we were getting people to sign, which of course we are asking ANYONE who supports the development to sign. One of his main concerns was that we would claim everyone who signed a Statement of Support as being a 'local residents'. I was able to address his concerns and I think he fully appreciates what we are doing is very open, honest & transparent. Following our conversation I thought I should once again clarify these things for the public record.
The Residents FOR Newmarket action group committee is currently made up of 4 people, but we hope that more people will show an interest in joining the committee as our work progresses and indeed we will saying to people at the public meeting that anyone who is local and wishes to get involved will be welcome. ALL of the current 4 committee members live under three miles from the site and only one of those lives over 2 miles away. We already have a list of around 40 (approx.) people who we are classing as members of Residents FOR Newmarket as they have signed a Statement of Support, or we have contact with them, and they all live within a 3 mile radius of the site.
ALL signed Statements of Support are being collated and any that are local to the site (3 mile radius) will be counted separately and again these people will be classed as being members of Residents FOR Newmarket. All the signed Statements of Support outside of the 3 mile radius will be counted and also sent to the planning inspectorate by the Residents FOR Newmarket committee, but we will not claim that these people are local residents or indeed members of Residents FOR Newmarket. We will keep a record copy of ALL the signed statements but just for record purposes only (and in case they get lost in the post etc).
It is still important that anyone who does support the development signs a Statement so we can show not only local support but wider support for the scheme.
The meeting we are holding at Stanley Rangers next Tuesday at 7.30pm is targeted at local residents (3 mile radius) but we are keen that the meeting be a truly PUBLIC meeting and therefore the public at large are free to attend. We will ask people to sign a voluntary attendance sheet along with their name and address (as well as complete a Statement of Support hopefully) so we can again collate who and who is not classed as a local resident for record purposes.
Thanks.

| IA: Does this just not reiterate what fans were meant to do for the Outline PP? Surely the Council/Local Government would have noted the amount of people within the local radius in support of it and how many weren't and also those people outside of the local vicinity?

| Thank you to the people who have taken forms into the GLOBAL HOUR PHARMACY on Leeds Road , Outwood ( opposite the library). This is one of the designated drop off points should anyone else wish to leave them there. There is also a poster up there advertising the meeting and some blank letters of support on the counter.
Thanks

| For anyone reading this - just a reminder that this campaign is live, full on, and required whatever the outcome of the clubs current financial predicament.
We will need Newmarket whatever - and therefore we ask that you continue to push this scheme as hard as you possibly can with friends, colleagues, neighbours, nay even family!
If you get the response 'what difference will it make' make sure and tell them that it will make all the difference to the Community of Wakefield, none less than the estimated 2,500 people and their families who will benefit from the employment gained.

| We have some news, which in some ways is quite good and some of you may have picked up on it in another thread.
The Planning Inspectorate have informed Wakefield MDC that the Public Inquiry will run to a 'Bespoke' timetable and as such we DON'T now need to return our Statements of Support by the 24th January and we will have a little more time. I have spoken directly with the Planning Inspectorate this morning and they have confirmed this to me.
The good news is that gives us more time to collect even more Statements of Support to add to the 3000 or so we already have! So please keep filling them out and asking others to do the same and keep dropping them off at the drop-off points!
Residents FOR Newmarket has now been formally registered by The Planning Inspectorate as an official interested group and therefore we will be included in on all correspondence in relation to the Public Inquiry. The other good news is that the bespoke timetable for the PI will be issued next week and we will now of course receive direct notification of such. As soon as we know the timetable I will post it here for everyone.
So PLEASE, PLEASE keep the Statements coming, and we will let you know the new cut-off date as soon as we know next week.
Finally, a massive thanks to everyone so far who has filled one out and collected many others from friends, relatives and colleagues
Newmarket remains the best and potential future of professional RL and sport in Wakefield along with unrivalled community sports facilities and new jobs.

She is the Case Officer for the Public Inquiry and she has my postal address and not my e-mail address, so I an expecting a letter from her.
Can you forward the e-mail on to me please... I will PM you my e-mail address!
You are clearly on the list to be notified, did you write to the SoS?
It will be three copies because she will have one, one for the file and the other for the planning inspector... or something like that.
As for the 'helpful' to receive these by 3rd March that does seem odd, the regulation state they have a firm cut off date!
Anyway, it looks like our new deadline is the 3rd March... but we will probably run with Friday 25th February for the Statements.
