| Ok, My wife, who works in the Ridings, has been bending my ear all week regarding seeing not one jot of publicity i.e players, posters, Wildcat Dolls etc. in the city re Sundays game or Trinity as a whole. The people in the Ridings tourist assured her that no one has been to see them and if they had they would have no problem whatsoever spreading the word re a poster or two or flyers etc. She (my wife) must know by now how Trinity operate so why she bends my ear so much about this I don't know. However, if it's true that publicity in the city centre is so low key as to be negligible......Ain't it a shame.
Rant Over.

your views will reach the club on here and there is a valid point to what you have said,
I do know that they have now and again brought the blow up cat outside the ridings and promoted the club,
as for fliers promoting the sunday game I saw one in a chip shop in stanley on friday night

| Like Miro states there is a tourist centre in the Ridings and it's not that difficult to place them on the mailing list.

| FYI, the shops in and around the Ridings DO NOT support the putting up of posters in their windows. They often ask for a daily fee or point blank say no. This has been tried on numerous occasions, and always unsuccessful.
If your wife does have an input in the Ridings and is a fan, then why not contact the Wildcats and ask them to drop some flyers/posters in? There are plenty of contact numbers/emails on the website.
But, as usual, you so called fans would prefer to slate the club.

Unlike you who prefers to slate the fans, for what its worth lots of gripes on here get through to the club and get resolved, it works both ways.
Some of these fans you point to are the most loyal and helpfull fans any club could wish to have. Ok one or two are just moaning gits but its a balance.

The lady in the Ridings said she would have no problem putting up a poster, To be fair my wife did raise the point with the Ridings rather than simply ignoring the fact. I can't speak for the shops but surely they don't ALL have the same policy? . The reason I mentioned it on here was quite simply because mailing the club in the past amounts to zero feedback.

in the past year or so I have seen a change in the way the club has tried to respond to the fans in positive a way,
I have had replies to emails that have impressed me and they have donated season tickets to the Leon Walker predictions in which they didn't need to do.
I also know of someone that is in talks as a fans point of view about the new stadium at stanley, so the club do listen
so if you have a point put it to the club

Could well do. Most stores in and around shopping centres these days belong to chains who have a blanket policy that they do not display anything other than their own display material in their windows.
I work for a high street retailer with over 600 stores around the UK who have that policy.
Many years ago when I was a store manager for them (not in Wakefield), we were often appproached to put posters in the window for things like the circus, or a new local nightclub opening (usually in return for a few tickets).
As a high street retailer your best advertising space is your shop window, for which you probably pay a very high rent (particularly in shopping centres) so why give some of it away for free.
Often the best bet is the individually (and often locally) owned stores who do not have to stick to a company mandate.
I'm in absolute agreement that we need to improve the clubs visibility in the town centre, but in a way, can understand why many retailers will not oblige.

My original post was referring to the tourist but having said that those shops that won't put up a poster should be closed down forthwith as unpatriotic to Wakefield and violating the "Fabric of Society" act. Ok I know there isn't one but it's high time there was Cadburys choc anyone?
