| It's 10am on Sunday and I am sat on the verandah waiting for breakfast to cook... it's already 35 degrees and I have a multi gym to pick up in about an hour...
so obviously my mind drifts to next year:
based on what we know/ suspect (PJ in Stos out)
this would be my starting team...
1 - Blaymire
2 - George
3 - Millard
4 - Gleeson
5 - Blanch
6 - Demetriou
7 - Brough
8 - Tronc
9 - Newton
10 - Korki
11 - Morrison
12 - Johnson
13 - Ferguson
14 - Leo Latu
15 - Moore
16 - Henderson
17 - Another Forward

35 degrees and you've gone for the cooked breakfast. Fair play to you, it is November.
So where do Obst and Jeffries figure in the great scheme of things? After all, they're taking up the place of Stosic and don't even make your first 17.

obst as ever a very strong squad player.... will play more the he wont.... BJ I just dont understand the signing!....
would have chosen stos above him for the squad every time... especially as we have young Southernwood to blood this year.
the only logic is that Jeffries was signed to cover the sale of Brough.... which... if happens will be disasterous for the short term... like Ellis's sale destroyed a season for us!

Don't know about Southernwood - Mopsey seems to reckon he won't sign for us as he has better offers, and I wouldn't doubt Mopsey on this one, but I hope he's wrong.
As far as BJ is concerned, I agree with you - Wakey fans have had long enough to see what he can and can't do. If he plays with Brough, he may just have found his ideal partner, if he plays instead of Brough, we're in for a long season, IMO. That said, in front of a dominant pack, BJ is a fine player. Add Stosic to the pack and we have an excellent set of forwards. Without him, we have a very good set, but strength in depth?
Still don't see where Sam fits in to the reckoning, although his previous form puts him firmly in the 17. Leo Latu? Waste of an overseas place if he plays in the reserves (likewise Sam).

| I think Latu can be one of our most important players comming off the bench and making a massive impact with regards to his big shots and lively runs!

| No place for Richie Moore? For me JD to loose forward with Obst at 6, i.e.
Blaymire
George/Murphy
Millard
Gleeson
Blanch
Obst
Brough
Tronc
Newton
Korkidas
Ferguson
Morrison
Demetriou
Moore
Leo-Latu
Johnson

17. Stosic or his replcement
Demetriou may struggle to play week in week out this season, he isn't a young pup anymore. The guy's work ethic and determination is there for all to see but the body may not.
I've a feeling we'll see alot of our youngsters playing this season. A couple of injuries here or there and they'll get their shot. So it'll be interesting to see who impresses. I like how Gleeson came along as an attacking centre and Murphy has shown up well thus far. Ferguson was superb last year and the little snippets i saw of Davy (KR) and Morton (Warrington) was encouraging.
I'm looking forward to see how our future will progress. It may not be a top 6 or 8 finish but this season may well have a bigger impact on Wakefield for the future than last year.

Pretty much agree with that, having both BJ and Latu seems a luxury though as far as cover goes as I'd expect that is an area where the youngsters are more likely to be able to step in. I hope I'm wrong, but up front is more of a concern as far as cover goes, particularly with no Sausage, and it is harder for youngsters to fill in there.

BJ will play at 6
Obst needs to be on the field
Newton will give us more ball handling options at 13, also enables JD to repalce Obst and Newton goes to 9
Latu to be used as impact second rower or cover at dummy half
JD or Johnson to cover backs
It looks a strong 17, but we're going to struggle if there's a few injuries

He wouldn't be my first choice, but I can see that is the thinking with his signing. However, that leaves Obst, Newton, Latu & Davey at hooker; a little over covered considering one or two other players could fit in there if we were really pushed.

| henderson should be nowhere near the 17 unless we have injuries.
prop wise if sausage does go we definitely need to replace him with quality, no point having all these halves and hookers but be weak up front as has been said already.
moore tronc korki and bibb is not enough to go through the season with, even if sausage stays another one wouldn't go amiss imo
